lets try again vtr block to vts cylinder head conversion

  1. #1
rite hopefully second time lucky. im doing a vtr block to vts cylinder head conversion.
    i have a mk2 vtr block.
Question = which vts cylinder head should i use MK1 or 2.

all internal components WILL be uprated i.e
    high comp pocketed pistons rods
    lightened balanced crank
    cat cams
    all bolts arp's.
etc etc money no object project will be done when its done. please dont just tell me to get the vts block because that would be the easy option i want to do it this way.
    cheers

why do it like this, it will be very very expensive and make minimal difference
  3. #3
Im pretty sure the stud pattern on the head is different too fella
  4. #4
plus if your previous thread had been locked and you start another exactly the same you will get an infraction/ ban. dont believe me? search for "cam timing and mapping" by me and ginge
  5. #5
why are you doing it this way? is it in order to comply to some sort of race series regulations? Otherwise i can't see the point
  6. #6
it wasnt closed because of the question lol. it wont be expensive as i was building a high spec vts engine anyway. stud pattern is the same. block is identical. i no that i have to move cam tensioner but the hole is ther for it already tapped out. and i no i have to change crank pulley. oh forgot to ask do i have to change the crank sensor to a vts 1.

nope not for race series just building a fast road car. probably do a few track days tho. i live on an island there are no vts engines on the island. plus why not do it this way its the exact same block its going to be the same finished product at the end. even if i got a vts block it would be getting ripped apart and start from scratch again anyway.

    anyone no this answer
  9. #9
the coolant passages dont match between the head and block. it just doesnt work mate.
  10. #10
but how can they not its the exact same block. VTR block + VTS block = hmm wot do u no THE SAME.
  11. #11
ive done the same but with low comp pistons so i know where your coming from easy to do and can be done ...dont think people understand why buy a new bloke when everything is nearly the same ...my thread has a few pics of how its done i did mine because i had a fucked vts block but a awesome vtr one so swaped everything over what i needed

stud patten is same.. vtr gasket different but thats for oil pressure as the vts block has different piston oil sprayers and need more pressure
  15. #15
i used a vtr and vts mark 1 engines single plug ecu
  16. #16
thats rite bout the oil pressure did you uprate the oil pump. is the pump in the mk1 chain driven like the mk2. im thinkin of just going for it with th mk2 vts head and see what happens.

why bother making a thread if you know everything. prick

oil pump is same mark 1 and two are chain driven ...the block of a mark vtr1 is the same as vts mark 1 ok whats different i shead some light on this as you seem to be getting some silly info
crank is same as vtr bore stroke are all the same
    piston rods same two

    whats different

    oil piston jets different
    piston heads different
cam belt side you need the crank cambelt pully
and swap all the tenchioner over
but the block all ready has the taped holes for it
    as there the same
ok now the dip stick hole needs needs to be made bigger and drill out for crank breather
when you put it back together use the vts head gasket not a vtr one that will sort the pressure out for the pistion oil feeds
    hope this helps

look lee why say sumthing when you quite clearly dont no what your talkin about.
anyway i will answer your question even tho your the prick. its just i wasnt sure if you could mix n match the heads with the blocks between th different mk's
