Veiws on powerflex lower engine mounts

  1. #1
Ive got a clunk when I re-engage the clutch when changing gear in lower gears. I think its something to do with engine movement.

So I am thinking of getting a powerflex lower engine mount along with a new gear box mount. What are peoples veiws on these? Good, bad, no difference?

Did a search and some people have said they make the car really noisy, others say it doesnt

They are good imo, there are a few more vibrations felt through the cabin but engine movement is reduced by a fair amount.

They do increase vibrations a little but its well worth the sacrifice in my opinion

Increase vibration at idle (mainly cold)
Worth that sacrifice tho, alot less jerking of the engine at low speeds and car feels sturdier!

thats mainly what I want as I dont like the "flimsy" feel when pressing on through the gears

    Hard to fit?

    Increase vibration at idle..................

Vibrations are most noticeable on cold starts, once warmed up it's just a very light vibration through the wheel, hardly noticeable really. Car feels much more poised when ripping through the gears/ downshifting - definitely a worthy mod imo.

Can anyone get a link for a kit as mine really need changing.

Most modding car places sell em, google "powerflex engine mount"

if you get a group n gearbox mount it reduces the vibrations that the powerflex lower engine mount causes. well it did in mine anyway.

I have heard this. Is there any logic behind it?

As for where to get the powerflexs. Most tuning places and ebay for £24

anyone else has the same experience?

does the vibration get a little less the more the mount gets worn in?

fitted one today and it does make quite a difference. much easier going through the gears imo and pulling away but does increase vibrations quite a bit.

it does get a bit better after a while. i fitted one about 5 or 6 weeks ago and it vibrates a bit less now. its still quite strong when idle and up to around 2k though, but gets better

Note they are often labelled for Peugeot 106 (but of course are the same part for Saxo)

yeah mine was labelled 106. very simples to fit though. just quite abit of vibration through steering wheel lol. nevermind. its better now anyways

I would say the powerflex mount only has one draw back, you know its there when its idling, its not like its shaking the whole car though, I find it a huge improvement over a juddering engine anyway.

The upside is that the car feels tighter and since the engine doesn't lurch when you gun the throttle through a bend grip *FEELS* (note I said feels, not that it is!) better, a bit like 1/10th of an LSD lol
