tappets

    i have a tapping noise coming from my engine and have been told its the tappets.

    does anyone know if tappets in a saxo vtr mk1 can be adjusted or do i have to buy new tappets?

    and does anyone know what sorta price i should be looking at for gettin this done ??

    Yeh I think you can just adjust them, mine are noisey atm aswell...

    It tells you in the Haynes manual how to adjust them

    ok thts good sum machanic told me they cant be adjusted on a saxo..

    carefully when adjusting them, too tight and it'll misfire like a good'en

    you dont have to take off the cam belt and all that to adjust them do you ?

    all you have to remove is the rocker cover mate

    well you may need to remove a couple of other minor things to remove rocker cover, but i cant remember what lol

    and then from there you can adjust your tappets

    find the correct setting in mm they need to be at, then use a feeler guage to adjust them. Not that hard to do tbh, but if your not sure then take it to a garage.

    ahhh i think he was then, setting any timings like tappets, cam timing if it was cammed and using vernier anythihnk like that is failry simple on 8v engines and is dead easy to get too, i doiuble checked my valve timings/tappets and cam timing yesterday took about 2 hours ish i think to do it, cause doing the tappets can just be a little bit time consuming as theres a set order you do it etc

    yea mk2 vtr's have adjustable tappets
