phosphor bronze

    basically my rear beam has craped itself (typical bearings), am getting a guy to stick sum phosphor bronze in! has anyone heard of any reports on this, either good are bad! after google'n it i can't find anything bad about it!

    honset opinions please

    bad thing about phosphor bronze is that it is brittle and so doesn't take too kindly to shocks and banging around. saying that minis etc have bushes in their rear radius arms made of it and so long as they are greased up regularly they seem to do ok

    best not tot half arse something. just fix correctly.

    i'd just use a proper beam rebuild kit

    i had a nosey on 205 gti drivers club forum and it seems to get good reports, i shall keep you posted on how it gets on!

    what you wating to do? replace the bearings with a solid bush? should be fine.
    i make pistons and bushes for hydraulic torque wrenchs from it.

    yes will, replaceing the bearing with the bronze! apparantly its used on industrial motors etc, i hadnt heard of it before until my mate mentioned it, he has used it 2 fix 205 suspension before!

    should be a good job, need my mot ive had no car for a while and its doin my head in!

    I would like to know how they hold up over a few years use.

    they are made already, he made them from solid pieces of that bronze! have to say now its a really good job! no play at all! time will tell how they hold up! but i have faith in my mechanic! ill keep uz up to date!
