1.6 XSI head onto VTR block?

been looking for one for a few days. Read up on it, and because they use different size cams, And have stronger valve springs it would give my Vtr gains.

Will the 1.6 xsi head fit onto the block (98bhp mk2 one) without major troubles?

I know i will also need to source/adapt a xsi fuel rail.

And will also need a different coil pack/ht lead set-up.

And ideally want a raylle inet. Do they fit onto the xsi head?

Also would my loom connect up alright with the xsi head?

At a later date, i will need to join a xsi loom to my loom, so i can run the ECU with the 7200rpm limiter.

Any help would be mucho appreciated! As my head keep spitting spark plugs out.

nice sounds good. i dont think it would connect sraight up coz i think the xsi head is quite similar to mk1 vtr head.

The late model 98bhp heads are radically different to any of the earlier ones. Also the management and wiring is considerably different on the later model cars. What your asking to do is actually very complicated. For example I believe the late cash and cooling system is wired up to your ECU though I have not done much work on late model cars due to complication. If your just after a bit more power your probably better just to get a replacement head out of a same model car and put a fast road cam in your engine. Or you could just get your can reground.

I want the raylle inlet though. Sure someone on here said xsi heads would fit..

which ones fit then? 1.3 raylle or the 1.6?

I certainly don't fancy taking my head off to replace it with the same one.

And Dont fancy camming it, as all the work involved soon adds up.

Much prefer to run a older type head with the stronger/ better designed parts, for 80 notes. And wont need it mapping up if i run the ECU, so more notes saved.

But which ones fit onto the mk2 block?

Keep hearing 16v in the back of my head!, GET OUT, GET OUT!!! lol

understand your post now ax. So the mk2 block won't adapt any other the older type heads?

So its not going to work ?

so its either

1) take head off, helicoil repair = 100 and still standard power.
2) take head off, helicoil repair + cam + springs + remap = 700 on the cheap
3) buy 58k 16v inc loom gbox for 400.
4) source a mk1 vtr block, and join it with raylle head/inlet = 300

Looks obvious to me!

A problem finding a old head in good concision. The head and manifold will bolt on but its a lot more complicated than that. What you are talking about is effectively a engine swap. Including things like piping, electronics and so on. As its a later model Saxo you have so I cant tell you exactly how to do it. I am just warning you its a lot of work. Try giving Sophie Busch a PM on here as I think there old 106 was a 3 plug and they fitted all the Rallye parts.

I did abit of researching, and it didnt seem that much hassle.

But it clearly is.

Hard decision this one. Something simple like a spark plug can have so many choices...

But seen as a different head is out of the question. Ill just have to repair mine.

Might throw a ph3 cam in there while its off. Seen a guy on here use std markings, no remap, and still made 120bhp in a vtr with breathing mods, so ill try that.

mate anything is possible but tbh why goto all tht trouble to get better springs and vlaves when you could jst get perforamce valves and springs and have it all polished and ported or fuk it do a coversion for a vts mate
