Airfitlers Explained.

    Ok, I just got back in from being out with my friends in his Saxo, one of my mates was saying his mates £14 Unbranded Airfilter from

    Essex Racing (http://www.essexracing.com/product_i...oducts_id=1119)

    would be exactly the same as getting the PipercrossInduction kit. (http://www.pipercross.net/fastroad/p...1&m2=20&app=70) not the viper kit.

    Apart from one being foam & the other being cone, what are the differences.

    Thank you for sorting out this debate out between my squabblers.

    You will not notice a difference in performance between them two filters, you'll just notice a difference in sound.

    (They're both shite in my opinion)

    I've heard a couple good things about the open pipercross, but i still think they're shit.

    If i had to pick one, i'd have the pipercross.

    Difference is mine is enclosed, as hot air from the engine (manifold) does not get sucked into the engine. Instead the air comes from outside the car.

    Cold air = more power.

    With any induction kit though you are only looking at a minimal improvement (+1/2/3bhp).

    With an open induction kit that sucks warm air in you're likely to loose power.

    as paul is saying hot air is bad for an engine

    the best way to battle heat soak is to use a standard air box with a highflow panel filter. then modify the cold airfeed for a better and cooler source of air.

    as for "induction kits" enclosed filters are far superior to the open cone type.

    open filters are for noise and impressing 16year old girls drinking vodka on the local park bench

    enclosed are for very very minimal increase in performance when coupled with other mods.
