A few questions

   Hi Folks,
   
   Just picked up a '51 Saxo 1.1 Desire for my other half to use as a runaround at uni, turns out that the previous owner was on here too - hence seeming a good place to ask questions...
   
   Whilst the previous owner paid much attention to styling the car, it's not quite for me so I want to return it to standard (or as much as possible) the things that the car has that i would like back to normal are:
   
   - Rear lights are currently smoked - seen as it's a 51 plate do i need to be buying any specific ones to replace them or will any do??
   
   - The rear badges have been sprayed black, they don't look too bad, but i think they were just done with Hammerite or similar, will it be easier to remove the hammerite or replace them - are they easily removed, i.e. glued on??
   
   - Chrome gearknob and gear surround, this may stay but again is this an easy replacement??
   
   - Wing Mirrors, these seem to be a different red, the car itself is 'Wicked Red' (gotta hand it to Citreon for their colour names!!!) but the mirrors are a darker, almost raspberry red... should the car have had body coloured mirrors, are they easily bought and replaced?
   
   - The car has been 'de-wipered' i'm puzzled why this is done, but hey - each to their own - from looking it seems as though there is a rubber grommet or something in place and no wiper arm... is it a case of simply buying a wiper arm and blade, do i need any bolts, washers etc??? I assume the mechanism remains when the rear wiper is removed??
   
   - Finally, there is a plastic button missing from the dash (next to the hazards switch) i've had a look on eBay and can't find any blanks... i did find a hazard switch but that would be a bit confusing!! Anywhere i can get them from or is a scrapyard the best bet??

   Hey!
   From what iv read on here any rear lights will do as Mk1 and Mk2 saxo lights are the same just the Mk1 are quite a bit darker giving a smoked look so depends on your preferences.
   The badges on the back have probably been t-cut to take off the silver paint and turn them back? I think they are glued on but you will need a replacement first because if you take them off they leaves holes in your boot.
   The wing mirrors should be an easy replacement, just have a look on ebay and there will probably be some on there which you can buy.
   As for the wiper and the missing button i dont have a clue im afraid unless the missing button is the rear window heater but i think its doubtful lol

   If you want mate we could do a trade, i want some smoked tail lights and you want some normal ones. Mine are 100% peferct. Sound good?
   
   The rear badges most probally were t-cut so u will have to re-spray silver and you take them off by a hiar dryer and then just glue them back on with any purpose glue.
   
   Not sure about the de-wiper if u look around the site there was a thread on de-wipering, im sure that would tell u what comes out of it. And as for the buttom im sure a scrappy will have one

   I'd be happy to trade the lights, the only problem I have is that the car can't be off the road without lights (or for that matter on it without lights!!!) and i'm guessing yours can't either - so not sure how the logistics of that would work??
   
   I'll get some replacement badges, they're only a tenner on eBay! Cheers for the info on changing them too.
   
   Wing Mirrors are next on the eBay hunt then!

   Ah, i have spares you see... We'll if u can get a few days spare not to use the car we can send them... or come to an agreement?... where abouts do you live?

   Spare lights - that's excessive!! I keep bulbs....
   
   I live nr Birmingham, the car resides in Edinburgh with my girlfriend however... it might be a right pain to sort, i'll see if the other half is that bothered about the smoked lights for now and go from there!

   Yeh mate, right kerfuffle lol. Never mind woulda been alot easier if you were closer
