engine interchangeability

  1. #1
got a 2001 1.1 saxo with a cat in the down pipe (don't know engine code),single point injection and engine isn't too good. also have a 2001 engine with a non-cat downpipe fitted that i know is good, both are single point injection type. Can anyone tell me for sure if they are interchangable, needless to say i'd have to change the exhaust manifold and a few other ancillaries, so long as i know its not going to be a real pain!

They both 1.1's? Check the ECU plugs. If theyre botht he same just swap them straight over. Easy.

yes, both 1.1s mate, know the one i took out of the white one i broke up has no cat in the downpipe and the one in the car has, i also know the dipsticks were different because i tried robbing the one out of the spare engine for the other when the end broke off but was a different length, will check ECU plugs tomorrow when we get back to work, hope it works out as easy as that!! thanks

the loom and ecu will be dif mandy. Its a single plug 3plug thing. The one with the cat in the mani will ave 2 lambda's aswell.

If theyre both 2001 they should be both triple plug Bosche ECUs. The change over was in 2000. Should both have the same loom and ECU.

heres hoping lol, bloody piffling little tin pot put-put snail eating garlic stinking french git! was thinking of just trying a head gasket but seeing as the engine is sat there doing nothing and we know it was a good runner, may as well use it. j's not too chuffed, its not even got a temp guage and when he left it running at the MOT bay he said the electric fan came on and stayed on, started it this morning and its spluttering so guess the head gasket has started to blow and seeing as its up for sale we want it 100% OK.
