#2i have just got a set of toyo proxes cf1 on my vtr, haven't driven on them yet but meant to be a decent tyre, plenty of tread on them and have a nice overhang on the tyre wall to protect the lip of your alloy, i payed fifty quid each,
-
#3I have Kumho Ecsta KU-31 on mine and theyre really good in both the wet and dry.
Paid 45 per wheel for them -
#4toyo proxes best tire ever
-
#5do proxes fit on standad vtr wheels? didnt no they made them in that sizeQuote:i have just got a set of toyo proxes cf1 on my vtr, haven't driven on them yet but meant to be a decent tyre, plenty of tread on them and have a nice overhang on the tyre wall to protect the lip of your alloy, i payed fifty quid each,

#6Proxes CF1
CF1s are the proxes for 185/55/141 user thanked this post: -
#7Proxes for me too, just had 2 fitted on the rear for £90 all in. Can get them from Camskill for £36 each if you can get them fitted yourself.
-
#8Toyos 195 40 16s Vs 70 quid,a bargain at that.[safe at speeds over a ton or so they say] Continentals same size 82 quid a better bargain at that, Toyos on the front Continental's on the rear your made...same ones on each axle though.. Get part worn, they are even cheaper actually a third of the price but no remoulds though, no siree no remoulds of any make these will kill you sure as day follows night or is it night follows day ...anyway your shout!!
-
#9dont buy proxys, you will be wasteing you money they are mady from such a soft compound they wear out realy fast!!
-
#10haha youve obviosly not tried yoko prada spec 2s there very soft for a road tyre from how mine are wearingQuote:dont buy proxys, you will be wasteing you money they are mady from such a soft compound they wear out realy fast!!
and soft is good for grip not longevity and tbh id go for grip over how long they last anyday -
#11think toyos seem a good option
-
#12toyos are good but there wear quick i heard michlin pilots are good apparently dont know form experience though.
-
#13i run proxes t1r and cant fault them
-
#14i had pilots on my 206 and they were ok but nothing special imo for the £
-
#15pilots will last ages but offer zero grip.t1-r have lots more grip, dont last ages, goodyear f1 have more grip again, but last even less.
depends what you want i guess.id have grip over wear rate any day.
only 3 tyres i have experience of on the saxo. -
#16im guessing the back doesnt really need to be as soft as the front as theres not a much grip needed i just cant believe how quick my t1rs have worn 4 months with them on and id say 2 months max left. i would just go into the wear bar but as its winter i want extra grip
-
#17my gf has the same tyres and theyve lasted her over a year how? lol she dont drive that slow
-
#18my front 2 are gettin ready but the back 2 are still good but there budgets so i duno weather to get 4 new or just front 2??? would having 2 toyos on the front with bugets on rear make dogy handleing? lol
-
#19this is what i have and my back end has come out only once as this is with hard driving in the dry only.
-
#20tbh if i had a pair of good tyres and a pair of budget ones i would prefer to have the descent tyres on the back as i would rather have understeer than oversteer as its more predictable
-
#21haha well mine feels like its sliding around corners sumtimes and goes sidways if you push hard lol strut brace makes it worse understeer like a drift car round roundaboutsQuote:this is what i have and my back end has come out only once as this is with hard driving in the dry only.
-
#22yeah but your alot more likely to have understeer as i still get this more than oversteer and form previous experience of crashing a car dont have budgets on the front abit of wet and its wank i was understeering all the time and i shiould of sorted it out but ended up crashing due to understeer
-
#23thats what my old car was like. chnge your tyre quick and if its wet you really want to drive like a granny.
-
#24not hard to stop the backend coming out anyway if it pops out opposite lock it as quick as you can and youl feel it swing back try to be gently when locking it around else youl end up spining the other way.
-
#25haha you think its the front 1s causing it? its quite fun cornering sideways cos you can hold it in the slide and power through itQuote:thats what my old car was like. chnge your tyre quick and if its wet you really want to drive like a granny.
but yes i do need 2 sort it lol
-
#26fair point, it must depend how cheap the front tyres are, i used to have bugets on the front and good rear tyres but had no issues. i am also quite a slow driverQuote:yeah but your alot more likely to have understeer as i still get this more than oversteer and form previous experience of crashing a car dont have budgets on the front abit of wet and its wank i was understeering all the time and i shiould of sorted it out but ended up crashing due to understeer
-
#27i dont know cause i cant see how your car is handling but if your back end it coming out you could probably do with good back tyres. im talking about my car which is also lowered 55 mm has toyo proxies on the front and fulrun haevy duty tyres on the back which i would of fort would be crap but my backend rarely comes out and i seem to get understeer more than oversteer as it is a fwd car.
-
#28mines lowerd 60mm front and 2 notches rear they are mowhawk tyres atm and got front upper strut brace understeer is quite bad at times especially on roundabouts but if you drop it dwn into 2nd theres no rear grip and the back end comes out and you end up holding it sideways around and having to keep your foot in???Quote:i dont know cause i cant see how your car is handling but if your back end it coming out you could probably do with good back tyres. im talking about my car which is also lowered 55 mm has toyo proxies on the front and fulrun haevy duty tyres on the back which i would of fort would be crap but my backend rarely comes out and i seem to get understeer more than oversteer as it is a fwd car.

#29to be fair if your oversteering the worst thing you can do is drop it down a gear unless your intending to slide for fun. best thing is to go up a gear the lower the revs the better that way when grip comes back you wont just touch the pedal and slide again just be easy with it its not worth it when you crash took me a crash to learn my lesson trying to take a roundabout at 50 60 in the wet is not a good idea. and from now on in the wet i rli do slow down and just drive at a perfectly safe pace keeping revs at 2000 save the fast driving for the dry trust me.
-
#30also if you are taking a roundabout quick dont go screaming round it put it up a gear and bakc down a gear when you get back off much safer.
-
#31yhh to be fair most the time it slides is just me for fun lol wet weather and MOWHAWKS dnt mix lol the understeer is unbelivable you have to crawl around they were on the car wen i brought it and i can say that i will NEVER be buying buget tyres they feel really spongy and have no grip in the wet!Quote:to be fair if your oversteering the worst thing you can do is drop it down a gear unless your intending to slide for fun. best thing is to go up a gear the lower the revs the better that way when grip comes back you wont just touch the pedal and slide again just be easy with it its not worth it when you crash took me a crash to learn my lesson trying to take a roundabout at 50 60 in the wet is not a good idea. and from now on in the wet i rli do slow down and just drive at a perfectly safe pace keeping revs at 2000 save the fast driving for the dry trust me.

#32lol yea mate even with good tyres they still understeer in the wet like fook well mine does so if you do go get good tyres dont go mad lol. yeah i used to do it for fun till i crashed now i realized it isnt worth it... all the time. think the saxos are just shite in the wet hence why it sucks that winter is coming.
-
#33yhh once new tryes are on no more sliding done want to ruen them strait away lol yhh ino a few ppl who have wrote saxos off in the wet (not due to speed)Quote:lol yea mate even with good tyres they still understeer in the wet like fook well mine does so if you do go get good tyres dont go mad lol. yeah i used to do it for fun till i crashed now i realized it isnt worth it... all the time. think the saxos are just shite in the wet hence why it sucks that winter is coming.
the lack of abs dont help either lol
-
#34id go for toyo proxes mate- got them on my vts and love em
-
#35who changes gear when going round a roundabout?? going up or down relly isnt good causes horrible weight transfers which could both cause abit of oversteer. i feel the cause of most of your oversteer is that having crap tyres on the back of the car when its lowered abit will easily send you sideways.
-
#36i love the st0000pid! "proxies" are the best. "r888"
are shit for road going cars.
Ef1! are awesome!
sporty pilots arnt too bad either for the money.
dunlop esavs and conti contacts are good for milage!
ive seen 50k! out of a set ofdunlops.
but in my all personal opinion PZNero's! cant not be beaten! they are truly amazing tyres!
imo knob any toyo / kuhmo/ yoka anything tbh! -
#37So the Proxes CF1's are the tyres most people recommend for standard vtr wheels? and Camskills the cheapest?
-
#38id go for TR1's
-
#39I can only find T1R's in 195/55/14 and 195/45/14, would they still fit because there not 185? im so confused on this whole tyre business
-
#40CF1's are the smaller size, not t1r
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-X-TOYO-PROXE...item5d26b11628
try camskill, may be cheaper -
#41But the CF1's are alot cheaper so in theory not as good? so you cant have the T1R's on vtr rims?
-
#42cf1's arent crap
