    hey guys.

Was in Halfords the other day and seen they wer selling "ripspeed" turbo timers....

Think they wer about £30-£40, remotely programmable etc etc

would you trust one?? as it seems cheap enough tbh, just dont no much about them etc.

Would just save me sitting in the car for a few mins while i let it tick over to kool down...

    Opinions please

TBH mate you`d be better off saving your cash & just counting down on the cars digital clock. On the other hand if you want it for looks then buy it but i`m sure ebay would be cheaper.

u dont wont to trust cheap stuff on your car if you've spent lots on it

I wouldnt trust ripspeed for a turbo timer, maybe a headunit, but nothing else.

Should be fine mate. Halfords wouldn't sell anything that didnt work.
Also, a bog standard turbo timer is a fairly simple bit of kit, and therefore doesn't have to cost lots. My mate used to run one that he bought new off ebay for £10, and that worked fine.

dont turbo timers make your insurance invalid now?? I may be wrong but someone told me that a while back
  11. #11
They are technically illegal also iirc, as you are leaving a running car unattended.
Be unlucky to get done for it though as the keys are in your posession.

Insurance is probably due to leaving the car running whilst unattended also, but most timers wire into the door light/alarm system and cut the engine if any one tries to get in

get a stopwatch, wait in your car for about two minutes, should be enough time for the oil to leave the turbo.

as said they dont need to be fancy in essence they are just a swich with a timer, the more expensive ones usualy offer better fetures such as a cool down period for the type of driving the car has just experianced e.g if youve thrashed it it will tic over for longer etc. at the end of the day if it does the job thats asked thaen its a good bit of kit!
