NON Sunroof skin fitting

  1. #1
    Alright guys

Im going to be fitting a non sunroof skin to my sax over the coming months.

Im thinking of painting it white to carry on with the theme of my car.

Or should i paint it black to match the car??

  2. #2
Def black mate, im it would look better anyway its a bit tto much white on a hard as fook lookin car. And if you ever get rid of the white theme your stuck with a lairy white roof panel lol
  3. #3
deninatly black mate i think that would be too much white.

faaaiirr enough. i doubt i'd change the colour scheme tbh. black and white does it for me. i doubt i'll be doing what every fucker does and put bright red, green, yellow on a black saxo

true reason for my wanting to paint the roof white is i have 5ltrs of white paint left over and no citroen black left. dont fancy buying another tin of black
  5. #5
black will look better imo how long dose it take to fit also were do u get the skin from?
  6. #6
how long is a peice of string, im going to do it one weekend. should take 3-4 hours brother in-law will get the windscreen out in 20-30mins
  7. #7
also getting the skin from pug direct
  8. #8

  11. #11
    checkerd look's awful

    do it black tom

it's a track car anyway, looks dont matter lol

yer it is a track car and your right looks dont matter but i do alot of road miles in it aswell so nice to keep it look as tidy as possible. especially whilst im trying to find a job
  14. #14
plastic clips, keeping with the OEM theme? lol
  15. #15
if you put a full cage in do you stil need a jig, mines a sun roof modle but it leaks ect plus non sunroof look alot better imo
  16. #16
Fair point. Need to fit my cage whilst the cars off the road, dropping it in from above would be much easier

dont have the money for carbon, at the end of the day its not an f1 car so the extra 1-2kgs isnt going to hurt on a saxo

dont have a part number buddy, i just asked for a 106rallye non sunroof skin. £115 was the price including vat.
bic at streamline carbon has a spare one with a couple of small dents. he wants 70quid for it

Carbon Tom. Ill loan u the money lol
  30. #30
no point mate, its not worth the cost to buy. i normally only drive my car in the evenings in the dark, so nobody would see it.

carbon roof is just for pub talk/wanking - i dont drink so dont go to the pub. so no point
  31. #31
    oh

wanted you to be my brother lol
  32. #32
Black mate. White will look pants. They will need welding and sealing back on if you want to maintain the rigidity. Bear in mind your screen will also have to come out to remove your existing roof and refit the new one.
  33. #33
    suprised only 1 said white
but ye black would look much better
not often you see steelies that look well on the car, are they the 15" xsara ones or something?
  34. #34
i think i have already mentioned about my brother inlaw being a windscreen fitter and he's removing it for me at the top of the thread.
im looking into a very very big meaty cage that i will be welding in. thus allowing me to simply rivet and seal the roof on

    vts spare wheels

Awesome, can't wait to see this done!! - I'm going to look to just bond mine on when I do it - with a cage in, tied into b pillars and the windscreen bonded in, will be fine.

    My bad

Why don't you simply weld the roof? Surely that's just as easy/neater than rivetting???

exactly mate my cage is going to be something around 13 point cage thats including fixing to the a+b pillars with lots of extra bars in place for safety and strength.

sorry mate sounds like i was having a dig, i wasnt

tbh there is no point deciding now, i'll decide the best method when the time comes. chances are it will get welded back on when the cage gets put together thinking about it.

Too late, I've been mopping up the tears

Seriously though, I had mine done (don't know if you remember) at the start of this year and the bodyshop said the only way to fit them is to weld them in.

Also don't forget to buy a b pillar cross member, cos if you don't the roof will bend in at speed!
  41. #41
yer i do remember mate was very smart. how do you weld carbon fibre? bond a metal frame then weld that?
my cage will be welded or pressed up against the roof to support the shape.
  42. #42
glad its your head an not mine when the roof peels off in a roll
    not havin a dig

the only reason for me having a roof once the cage is in, is to keep my head dry on a wet day

ohh yes its not going to just be a square frame either,
its going to be square with a X in the middle with bars going out from the middle of the cross to the side bars directly above my head.
also coupled with a crash helmet i think i will be safe.

my aim is to have the safest cage in a saxo ever made. i drive like a cu*t on track getting to speeds of over 120mph and hardly slowing for the bends.
if im going to hit anything or roll it i want to be as safe as i can be.
