when people say they fit straight on what exactly do they mean? what else would I have to get to put it on?
cooper s superchargers
-
#1
-
#2not a straight fit, not the best power gains for the hassle, better off going for rotrex
-
#3alot of fab work
-
#4isnt the engine basicly the same as a 16v?
-
#5there was some theard about this before and a guy said all that was need was a bracket to mount the supercharger and to extend the pully wheel arm. i will try and find the thread if you want so you could have a read.
-
#6good man
-
#7here is the thread just have a read and see what you think.

#8not worth bodging a kit toegther. would be just as easy to go rotrex or if you want to go diy setup then turbo is allot easier.
-
#9that thred is great info
-
#10hi flow heads do a kit which consists of a modified charger and bracket.
give them a quick ring if your serious. -
#11I am going to do this if I get bored
-
#12go for it gav you know you want to, never looked into it but the price of cooper chargers aint cheap iirc, second is still high and theyre not that common to get a bargain
-
#13that thread makes it very tempting. by cheep what do you think they meen, all in?
-
#14yeah looking at it the pipe work, i/c, hoses etc will be easy no need for a dv so just that lot injectors, charger some brackets job done
-
#15few hundred quid all in for charger and belts and pulleys. If you can fabricate your own mounts etc. Eaton chargers were couple of hundred last time I looked. Admittedly that was a couple of years ago so might of changed now.
If you want extras like cooler, lower compression for more boost, extra fuelling etc then you need to spend more -
#16oil cooler mmm thats another thing I will invest in, fuelling I know. Superchargin just got interesting....
-
#17Just buy a Rotrex kit Gav. Big power = simples
-
#18rotrex = bum for hire = painful = not good lol!
-
#20tell me about it!
-
#21I know what you mean Andy but I will look into it properly will be interesting non the less
-
#22Back on topic lol
Yes the eaton charger could be done on the cheap if you hunt round for bargains. But you'll need to be patient and also be handy with a spanner/welder if you want it proper low cost. And you got to factor in oil cooler, intercooler, fueling compression if you want it reliable, unless you are goind to run it as a really low boost setup. But then there;s little point in doing it. -
#23I understand. So a grand would hardly see it.....?
-
#24If you want to pick up the charger for cheap take a look on ebay as i have seen them going for around the £30 mark
-
#25£1000 could see it up and running if you can find some bargains. Just use thicker headgaskets/decompression plates to lower compression, or 5th injector/mf2/sigcon for extra fuellling. Intercoolers can be got for £50 or less. Then you just need boost pipes and pulleys etc and some way of mounting everything.
-
#26so for a few hundred quid you could be running boost? obviously limited power gains nothing stupid?Quote:few hundred quid all in for charger and belts and pulleys. #27can be done cheap would say average price of 1300, I would not use a eaton charger i would go the rotrex route if i was doing it all over again.
Just remember when ever going down the boosted route that some form of oil cooling is needed more so if running some of the eaton chargers cose they can use engine oil like a turbo dose, will also need to budget for head gasket and head bolts if useing that to lower comp,1 user thanked this post:
