Lowering 1.1

  1. #1
Hi everyone, i have a 1999 mk 1 citroen saxo 1.1 and i was wondering what would be the best amount to lower it but i want a mix of looks and handling but i would like to have it sitting slightly above the arches,or will that be costly?Would i need to get just a spring kit or suspension kit and would i need any arch work?its sitting on 15" alloys with 195/45 R15 tyres.
    thanx for any help.matt

go 35-40mm, and for best handling get a full kit and also upper and lower strut braces. you'll need some archwork done at the rear with the 15's though.

Does lowering actually make any difference? I think the handling is very good at the mo(in the dry) with the vtr wheels rather than my old skinny ones. Wider wheels seem to make a huge difference would 225 wide wheels have a better effect to the handling rather than lowering??

Your best off getting the whole kit straight away mate. It will save you money in the long run, as the standard dampers wont be cut out for the job for more than 6 months.
Unless you want it to roll like a jelly round corners.

Do you have any recommendations?Ive been looking at a spax full kit and how much will the arch work cost and can i buy the strut braces at a later date? Also i am having a problem with a weird squeak/rocking sound which is i think is coming from the rear and only happens when i brake, accelerate or go over bumps.

Strut brace isnt essential, so it can wait i guess.
Not got much of an idea about pricing on full kits at the minute.

Archwork is about £30 - £40 per arch, when i last enquired, but it's more than likely a case of shopping about.
