Spraying interior (vents, centre console etc) possi blue

  1. #1
I'm planing on spraying my centre console, vents and door cards possi blue then laquer them. Does anyone have any pictures of this so i can see what it looks like? I know it must be pretty common but would like to see a few pics beforehand

Also how would i go about taking the centre console and vents out? I got one of the vents out by yanking it however the other one wont budge, is there something i need to unclip behind it or what? Andd no idea about the centre console

    Thanks in advance

Mcinabout has just done this, check his progress thread for pics, he's in the process of refitting iirc

Centre console has 2 screws under the stereo slot, one just above the coin tray and two behind the blank buttons at the top, obviously you need to remove all the buttons and your headunit and then disconnect the heater and cigarette lighter wiring looms to completely remove it, these bits then unscrew once the whole thing is out.

And iirc the heater vents just pull out, then have a lug either side to release the fascia.

the vents should just pop out mate, and for the centre console there are 3 or 5 tork screws two that are hidden behind two buttons where your hazard light switch is.

Ahhh thanks for the comments. Yeah the right vent i got out by wiggling it however the left one is jammed into the bit at the back i think. Opened up the slot with the fuses and poked my hand in and feels like the vent had been pushed back pretty far into the bit pumping out air.

The ducting is usually soft and flexible and should just pull off the back of the vent, maybe a lug has got stuck somewhere, see if you can get in to look at it and have a feel about for anything catching, and therefore stopping the vent coming out.

I hated my standard interior,,ive stil got to do the doorcards as its stil clown interior and mulit coloured seatbelts lol,,but thats not as bad as the seats lol. I have a blue lip on my alloys and thats just vinyl, but it took 5mins for the bloke to do around with the vinyl as he was doing the roof in vinyl for me tooBut you can just go to a local bike shop and thye sell it in there and that comes with a applicator irrc but i havent tried it.

Looks spot on mate, i read your progress thread earlier, (not normally keen when the outside colour comes in, i prefer silver, looks more subtle and modern imo) but yours looks great really finishes off the the interior nicely

Would have done the speakers grilles too though if it was me

    Little late but here's mine....

Not Posi blue.. Rover Blue but I prefer this colour!
  21. #21
Looks nice mate im thinking or doing mine but not sure on what colour to go yet.
  22. #22
Yeah that's look good mate. I've sprayed the side vents and am now in the process of taking apart the centre console so i can spray it. I've got all of the bits out bar the top vent, the heater power knob and the cigerette lighter, any advice as to how to get these out? Thanks.
  23. #23
looks nice i doin mine in possi blue it looks mint goes with the colour of the car
  24. #24
Honestly... I left the lighter bit in and just filled in the hole with one of those sticky-pads that you fix to the bottom of chair legs to keep them from sliding. Fitted fine.

Failing that.. Find something that's the same size as the opening, it just means that my cigarette lighter doesn't light up any more. Which doesn't really bother me at all!

The heater knob just needs a bit of force... As for the top vent.. I'm sure that just needs a little bit of a wiggle. Not 100% it's been a while!
  25. #25
Yeahhh finally did it, forced the knob out and the heater has 2 pins you need to remove at the back For the cigerette lighter i just ripped up loads of masking tape and put that over it, and a big one for the opening, done the trick Will have pics of that, the side vents and my glove box handle up on my progression thread in the next few days
