1.1 gearbox

   Is it possible to fit a 1.1 gearbox on a vtr to icrease its acceleration? seen a vtr on youtube racing a vts and the vtr won, i had asked wat he had dun, and he said 1.1 gearbox lol no dout hes here on sax-p lol.........so can it be dun any1?

   yes it can be done, very easily.
   
   I've got one on my vtr. And it makes a big difference.

   all saxo and 06 boxes are interchangeable, but i wouldnt use one

   wats the difference? wot speeds to you get out of each gear now?
   would the power of the vtr not blow the 1.1 gearbox up lol how long you had the box in your vtr mate

   unless you have a very modified vtr engine, there will be no problem in running a 1.1 box.
   
   People say about the weaker diffs, But unless your wheel-spin pr0, It'll be fine.
   
   If your after a quick fix for more acceleration, defiantly consider the 1.1 box.
   
   Tops out @ 118mph.
   When you change gear, the revs only drop down 1k. So u change @ 5k rpm, and start at 4k (power band). So 5-4-5-4,

   Yes, it works. And it makes a massive improvement.

   done 3-4k miles, best one so far (out of a vtr box and furio). And i drive quite hard.

   ive just put one on my vts and its made hell of a difference.1st and 2nd are real close,3rd is pretty long.and ive still got the top end there for the motorway too.

    i have the same. And will still be ok if you cam it.
    
    i was going to stick a ph3 in, but it's just not worth it. on the cheap with mates rates, your still looking at 400-500. Not worth it imo

    I've 'played with a few'. Best one being a XSI with a VTS engine in it. His engine standard, mine breathing mods and 1.1 box. There wasn't any difference upto 80. (didnt take it past 80.)

    Im going down to RWYB at santa pod in a few weeks with my mate thats just put a vts engine in a vtr, Going to blast down the strip together!
    
    Thats the best way to see the difference. And it'll be printed out, so its genuine.

    Depending on what box he's running, my money's on there being about a second (maybe closer to 0.5s if he's got a 16v box) difference.
    
    Close to 16s for you, and 15.0-15.5 for him.

    okay, with a 1.1 Gearbox in a VTR what sort of RPM does 70mph sit at on the motorway, im quite tempted after reading this

    mine sits at about 3-4 grand at 70mph.

    on a vtr in 5th, what ever your revs are, is always half of the speed.
    
    Eg 60mph in 5th = 3krpm.
    
    eg 70mph in 5th = 3.5k rpm.
    
    eg 80mph in 5th = 4k rpm
    
    eg 100mph in 5th = 5k rpm.

    i hate the 1.1 gearbox, u constantly changing gear and doing 4k revs at 70mph, drains the fuel

    put a vtr box on your 1.1, then say which one you prefer

    I managed a 15.9 8v and 1.1 box. Bit of a target there for you to aim for. Although i'd expect your mate to be mid-high 15s.

    Any one know how much it drops mpg with the 1.1 box? I currently get 42-46mpg vtr, vtr box very light breathing mods only.
