i want to buy a backbox for my sax, but i dont know whether it can be added without welding, i want the backbox to be on my car but to be removed easily for insurance purposes

anyone got ideas, ive herd someone say it can be clamped to the existing system, but im new to this so any ideas and a guide would help alot..

    cheers

Allreet matey?.yes i think you can add a backbox easy, you can get a "direct fit" backbox which basically clamps on,if im not mistaken

does the clamp come with most backboxes and is the standard one welded to the system ?

so the car is involved in a crash, its fucked, gets taken to a yard and you cant get into the yard to tamper with the car until the insurance have inspected it. Here comes insurance inspector. OOOh fantastic a modified car undeclared, shove your insurance up your ring your in the shit.

    smart.

i intend on messing with it straight away, and cant see why a few hundred pound increase for a backbox is justified at all, if they wernt such arses about it then id declare it, its not like its gonna make my car alot faster..

few hundred pound increase or you hit a bmw or something, null and void insurance so your paying for your car, the car you hit AND any injuries you caused to the other driver.

    exactly.

good point scott but i agree with him, does putting a back box on make you more likely to hit a rolls royce?.
dont think so, the more you declare the more pounds they add on!. why you ask???? because they can!...
personally i would declare it to be on the safe side!.
you should declare mods like wheels and suspension because they do alter the caracteristics of the way you motor drives, you may be more likely to aquaplane with wider wheels for example!.

tho i have heared they bump the price up for bigger brakes even... why is that then i ask??...yes it does perform better.. but it is safer to!.... money grabbing sods is what they are!.

just an excuse to rip us off or not pay out, either way rip us off..

    just dont crash lol

Your standard back box id fixed on with the bracket. its already on your exhaust matey. just 2 bolts and the bracket is undone!

The existing backbox isn't welded on at all. its a 5 min job to change your back box. you will only need to weld if you buy a universal back box.

Best to buy one that is specifically for your car or been fitted to the same model car as yours before.
