heating problems due to afr?

    hi all. still trying to find ways to keep my saxo temp down. it never used to go high. it only used to run on 0.2 bar. but now is on 0.6. so when i race about my temp had started to go high.

    i think this is because the air fuel ratio is way out... could it be?

    if i get it maped even though my bhp will be +++ will it still bring the temp down as it will be geting a perfect mix of air and fuel?

    also the vtr only has a water temp. but i went from a 13 row to 10 row oil cooler. the water temp is different but could the oil temp guid keeping the water temp down?

    if youve upped your boost without adjusting fuel/ignition i think high temps are the least of your worries lol

    What temps? Air intake? Coolant? Oil? Exhaust Gas Temp???

    ok saxo vtr only has one guage wich is water temp.. wich has started to o high if i was to put my foot down.

    all i want to no is will the oil temp affect the water temp?

    i thaught if the oil was cooler it will make the engine a bit cooler which will make the water a bit cooler?

    plus by the afr being way out could this cause the temp to go high aswell. will a remap affect the temp? even though its goint to be more power if the afr ig spot on will it still run a bit cooler?

    if its running lean it will run hot. try increasing the fueling a tad if you have the ability and see if the temps drop. Looking at water temp is a bad indicator really since its probably the slowest to show a reaction. EGT will be the fastest.

    nice one. egt? i will look into some more guages like inlet temp and oil temp and afr.
    im just woried that as it does this i dont no if it will over heat when i get it tuned but thaught it will be running cleaner on the rollong road so it may not over heat as much.

    i will just have to take my bonnet, grill and bumper off after they fit a new ecu so when its on the rolling road it will be as cool as possible...

    Ok water temp going high - what is high? Just looking at the gauge high?

    Also what AFR are you at on full boost, full revs, and what PSI/BAR is full boost??

    yea just looking at the standard guage. if i drive it all day it will be fine but if i was to put my foot down for a bit it will creep up to the red. and take ages to go down but if i get at maped will it sop it from goin hi as the afr wil be correct.

    i dont have a afr guage. the car is running very lean, on full boost its at .6 bar

    well all my car is doing is forrcing alot more air into my engine. i have nothin on their at the min to feed it more fuel. it has not been maped or anything. and you can feel the car trying too boost but the standard management wont feed it.

    sounds v.dangerous if you ask me. i pissed 2k up the wall, just because of bad AIR/FUEL/IGNITION Set-up.

    Most important bit! I wouldn't risk driving it, let alone on full boost. Otherwise all this time/money/effort will be a big waste.

    Wait till you get it mapped up, then enjoy driving it with peace of mind that it won't Fry your pistons.

    EDIT: wow, your using standard FPR??

    well i have just fitted my decomp plate, so i wil drive it about on no boost untill i get my standalone. hopefully on 27th.

    yea standard fpr. i do have a ajustable one sittin around but havent removed the standard one.

    Turbo speeds the process of everything up, therefore uses alot of fuel.
    If you use more fuel than your STD FPR can provide, your pistons will warp/crack very fast matey!

    right easy thing first I would bleed the coolant system to double double check for problems. If nothing arises get your mf2 setup properly then see whats up, the stat may on way out so working intermitedly?

    so do you think i should take the standard fpr out. then fit the ajustable one in the bay?

    wat power is the standard fpr? i thought the standard one would be ok and was just going to get bigger injectors and stand alone ecu..

    Post up your spec, youve fitted a turbo, you are running .6psi. What steps have you taken to increase the fueling to your engine so far?

    well my car has been of the road 2 weeks now as i just fitted new water pump, cam belt, aux belt, tensioner, head gasget, decomp plate, spark plugs, oil filter, thermostat, top mounts, drop links, drive shaft, fuel filter. hmm dont no what els lol.

    i dont have my mf2 and 5th injector any more. as i will be goin standalone very soon. so i just thaugh when i get it fine tuned on RR it would be running spot on and not over heat.

    yeah t2 turbo on 0.6 bar, front mount intercooler and oil cooler. i have taken the fith injector out. so all fueling is back to standard. with standard management.

    In that case you will be running very lean. Total engine destruction is guaranteed if you keep driving it. The standard ecu cant read boost so the fueling will be way off.

    yep i no this. all i wanted to no is when i get my standalone ecu will this bring the temp back down lol. u gave me my answer ages ago ryan lol cheers
