Help with rev limiter plz

  1. #1
Just a couple of simple questions, my car is an eastcoast (bag of wank version) 99 pre facelift, will it have a rev limiter so it makes that "bouncy" style noise when revved "ard as fuck" and will it fuck up my engine if im in like second and it does this "bum bum bum bum bum" noise super fast?

One more just got a chavtastic ripspeed tailpipe end thingymabob, its baffled with loads of little holes inside it (hopefully u know what im on about).

Heres the plan gang, drop the back box down chop the bent piece off the end and then wack the chavtastic thingy on the straight piece of piping which is now left.

If youve read this far will this make a difference to the sound me' harty?

    Any help be awesome thanks

Im not askin this in that "im a chav with a really loud exhaust and 10 subwoofers which i blast at da park with my trackie on with some kestrel supers 2 get da gash" sort of way.

Im not a chav (i like iron maiden so how can i be a trackie wearing chav?) and i dont plan on revvin the shit out of my car "so i look like a badaman", im just askin if it does it any harm to it. And if that little tail trim pipe would make it sound any different.

So any answers which make me sound like a chav i dont want tbh.

no it wouldn't make any difference to the sound of your car. You alsowill be damaging your engine by red lining it.

Hi mate, to be fair you did use the Queen's English in seeking answers to your queries.

Hitting the rev limiter isnt good for the engine, moreover it is unecessary as I can think of few (if any) cars which hit there peak power at the absolute end of the rev limit - thus to do so is counter intuitive.

As for the exhaust it should be easy enough to fit on standard rubber hangers however you could do one of two things to make it 'sit' well with the rear bumper.

    A) You could modify the metal hangers which mount to the exhaust (sensible if you are handy (or friendly) with a welder.

    B) Alternatively, you could accentuate the current style curve in the bumper which exposes the current exhaust. By doing so you will make the bumper more aesthetically in line with that of VTRs and so on. (the idea here is that you can avoid any exhaust related modification in exchange for allowing the aftermarket exhaust to sit well with the bumper. This option may be used in conjuction with the above to achieve the desired result. One further point for consideration is that this (Option B) is very much dependant on the style of your exhaust. When I performed this so called mod on my sister's Eastcoast it worked well as the exhaust in question had a design of tip which bent down lower than that of the actual backbox before it became horizontal again (similar to some Peugeot 206 exhausts for reference).

However as the latter suggestion involves taking a stanley knife to your bumper - it is very much your call. You need to be competent enough to perform the task to a reasonable standard, and brave enough to realise that what you are doing is for all practical purposes, irreversible.

Good luck to you though, hope this is of help!
