i have 16" alloys on and i want my car lowering. my bf has recommened the springs too get but if ya look at my car what do you think?
  2. #2
it's down to what you want tbh

    have a flick through this - http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=141903

will give you some ideas of different heights on a range of wheel sizes

i prefer a 40mm drop personally, looks best and is still practical, others have different views

they look like a 45 profile to me

it's been done regularly on 16's, and i dont think any work is involed, so long as you dont go too low

35-40mm is plenty with 16's and looks quite good on the link ashey has posted

you could get 40mm out of that! your tyres don't look that thick. Depends if you want to spend the money on lower profile tyres. What condition the tyres in?
  8. #8
the tyres are in very good condition as far as i no.
only got them a couple of months ago
them pictures really really helped actually

sooo if i got low 40mm - the wheel wont touch the arch?
as you can see by my picture i have a big gap

    what 100& definite?? X

Sal you will get away with 40mm no problem, you may possibly get a bit of rubbing but only on full lock and/or if you have passengers in the back seats too

Did you double check to see if your tyres were 195/40/16 or 195/45/16's?

If theyre the 40's then you can even get away with 60mm without any modifications to the car.

Similarly people always get concerned about speedbumps. As long as you go easy over them you'll have no problem going as low as 60mm if you wished

Of course its personal preference, 40mm is adequate

    right...
    my tyres are..
    195/45/16

    are they ok still?

40mm will be a safe bet

Any more and you may have some slight adjustments to make to the car, but honestly theyre nothing major

The lower profile tyres would be beneficial and are less likely to cause any minor rubbing issues, but if you're only looking at 40mm you'll be absolutely fine Its only if you go any lower than that that you'd be best getting the lower profile ones.

Lowered so many cars now and seen just about every combination possible with regards to lowered heights and wheel/tyre sizes and its only very rare that theres any problems with rubbing

Are you just going to change the springs aswel btw or get the dampers/shocks changed too?

Springs are a minimum and will be absolutely fine, but for not much extra cash the full kit would make a great deal of difference

Link to just 40mm springs (Spax)

Yeah its usually me and Lee who do the lowering together, us 2 and Aron all run the garage unit together, he's always dotting about aswel.

Its easier if you can order the stuff and then just bring it over to us to fit for you

omg what the hell are shockers, please help me im complete blank x
  20. #20
    Shock Absorbers.
  21. #21
    what do they do
  22. #22
If you are only lowering 40mm then you should be fine just buying new springs. Dont worry about the shock absorbers atm.
