Performance discs for Hi-spec 4 pots?

  1. #1
Ive had a search and come up with very little.

Ive got the 285mm set up and im looking to upgrade the discs from the standard hispec to some performance ones which will handle higher temperatures.

I know Kam is looking at something but surely people have used uprated discs with these before.

    So what has been used?

    Thanks

From reading up some good brake fluid and pads should be okay. I'm planning on going for some of the Carbone Lorraine fluid and RC5+ pads which should be plenty fine!

Kam is looking into discs - I'd love a set of 2 piece discs.

Ive got performance pads but my discs have seen better days. Im just trying to line some up rather than buying from hi-spec again. Agreed dot 5.1 all the way.

hi-soec build some brilliant discs. should not need any better. you can always get the wider disc kit. will make a difference.

If you contact Hi-Spec directly, they can manufacture you 2 piece discs. Very expensive though! Works out at nearly £400 IIRC.

Yep, me too. But if you must have floating discs... They look so sweet.

I'm just going to run gti-6 discs until I stop doing soo many miles or the hi spec discs drop in price

    Floating discs would be sweet

They must match an existing disc though. Raunchz - you ground your pads didnt you?

I took less than 1mm off the outside pad - I really didn't need to take much off. It sounds like I hacked away at the pad but i just took a small flat file to them.

If you fit the discs with the pistons pushed all the way in you'll see what needs to be ground off.

    2piece discs from hispec rock

About £140 + vat per side last time I checked, although hispec like putting prices up and not telling people.

  18. #18
They look huge!! I'm guessing you go them from Hi Spec? They must have the sizes me thinks - just another avenue for spending more ££££

I think i have the right starting disc now. Now its a case of finding costs of machining them to fit the saxo

Pretty sure Evans_1089 (iirc) could get discs made up! Worth a pm anyhows.

You'd all hate me if you knew what i got them for!! But they came from 3 differnt people, the bells and brackets came from a ebay as someone had changed cars and just got new bits to swap brakes between cars. The calipers are early hi spec ones as if you look close they have a Nike style tick on them which Nike made them remove due to copywrite these were for someones kit car project that never got finished so were new. Finally the discs were new from Hi spec!

Bit of a saga but well worth it and they are 300mm so i have to run 16's.

    the tick is the 'swoosh'

I did laugh when chatting to hispec about this years ago.
