Bump Strips

  1. #1
I'm wanting to paint my bump strips gloss black. I know that if i painted them as they are they will look pants so the obvious route is getting them smooth for a better finish. Could i just use some wet flat to smooth them over or would filler primer give a more smooth finish?

wet and dry then primere then wet and dry again then paint

I used filler primer on my 306
several light coats with wet and dry in between

Mine neither dude. If you can get it done for a decent price and KNOW the bodyshop will do a good job then it's worth paying. I've seen alot of people on here and 106owners that have done diy jobs and although they look alright, they arent a patch on a proper job done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Thanks alot for the ideas guys. I was hoping you would post up chip as yours looks amazing. I want the exact same outcome if i did mine. Sounds like a bodyshop is the way to go then. Cheers

Sand until smooth using different grades of wet and dry.
    1 plastic primer
    3/4 coats filler primer.
4/5 coats gloss black with wet and dry between each coat.
    Laquer.

look at my progress thread for the results that gave.

wet and dry starting with a corse grade, getting to a finer grade.
primer, wet and dry fine grade,re reprimer, keep doing that until you get it as smooth as you like.
as many coats you see fit then laquer.

It isnt the only way to go. It is possible to do it yourself, but you really do need to make sure they're cleaned well, no silicone what-so-ever. And the rest of the prepping needs to be done properly. Just all takes time. But if you take it to a good bodyshop, then your virtually guaranteed a proper job

I know prepping is the hardest part. I just want it to look good and not look like my nine year old brother did it lol.
