Yeah it can certainly be done mate all the saxo gearboxes are interchangeable and you'll notice it will pull a lot more. Depends on where you go for it to be fitted for the cost or you/someone you know could do it if your mechanically minded

dont no much about 1.1boxes but, if you can get a 1.3 S1 rallye box, i have one on my vtr and its the best box i have ever had, if the car doesnt slel im having custom linkages with cutom short shifts made!

you will not be disapointed with the 1,3box, doesnt really help you out btu yeah 1.3 box all the way..

but the 1.1 box is a straight fit as far as i no.

i have this setup in my car atm..
it pulls away from standard vtrs alot quicker..
    in each gear i get...
    1-25
    2-52
    3-81
    4-105
    5-131

obviously done on private property tho.

the gear box isnt as strong tho.

mine is abit noisey... it make a funny noise when backing off the accelerator

they are rather hard to find tbh
in a standard vtr i would not fit anything shorter than an s2 rallye box (same as the 1.6 xsi box) as the vtr has a lower limiter than the rallye you wil be changing gear a lot sooner and any advantage you gained will be lost

for example say your running a 1/4 mile strip with a terminal of about 90-95 mph
well thats just into 4th gear on a vtr box
but an s1 rallye youll be needing to shift to 5th
and that shift is time off the power and time iff the power is when drag will slow the car and your advantage off the mark is gone
it would also be a lot more difficult to launch as the shorter box will have a tendancy to wheelspin easier

on a track at pace then they have there advantages but your still working the box a lot and toppong out at about 115 mph is a bit low for a track like say silverstone or rockingham

intersting. how is it going to affect accelration tho?

This sounds like the biggest waste of time & money I've ever heard. Sure everyone likes acceleration but unless your planning on heavily modding your VTR to race in competitive Rallycross there is absolutley no point. On the streets you will just be wheel spinning as you watch that lovely White Standard VTR go flying past as you shift into 5th. Enjoy is all I will say.

Acceleration wise it will make a difference, noticeable?.. Only with a stopwatch. That and the sheer amount of "kangaroo-ing" that will go on every gear change. (Unless lowered & strutted)

You'd notice more difference in acceleration just stripping out your interior, spare wheel etc.

eh? Bad clutch control ?! Strut braces and lowered ? with a 1.1 gearbox fitted?
