ABS Light

  1. #1
    Hi All,
This is my first visit to the site so be gentle.

Bought my first Saxo on Sunday, its a 2000 Phase II VTS and I love it already. I have the MOT booked for tomorrow, thought I'd just throw it in and see what comes back. Anyway, since I have had it (1 day) the ABS light has been on.

Any ides how I can get rid of it for the MOT?? I'll be giving her the once over on the weekend, but I need to get her on the road as I have no other ride.

If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what the problem could be, it would be appreciated too. Brakes aren't too great, but I hear thats common.
I'm a bit green, so don't get too technical and I won't be offended if you explain stuff like I was 5 years old.

    Cheers
    Si

    Hi Si
will be a fail i'm afraid
abs light has to light up and go out!!
poss causes a faulty sensor ,most likely, abs pump,
    broken wiring, miriad other things
only way is to have a diag done
    brakes are p**s poor really

    Cheers Pepper,
Well............. I failed my MOT, but not on the brakes??????????
It was the emissions. They are all over the place. The tester said it could be the Lambda sensor?

Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Is it just a new sensor job or can I adjust some things? I have a big bor induction kit fitted if that makes any difference.

    Thanx

See this link for testing to see if any of the sensors are at fault. http://www.106owners.co.uk/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22168

My ABS light was on and it was the rear passenger sensor which had gone. I replaced it and the light went out

You will need a multimeter to do the test above.

In regards to the emissions it could be a few things i guess. Someone else will probably be able to answer the question better.

Check your ABS sensors as advised above with a multimeter...
If it happens to be the Passenger side front sensor, I'm sure I have one spare.

Let me know via PM if you need it.

im pretty sure these abs sensors are front or back only, dont need to be sided.
