just a quick turbo conversion question

am presuming my map sensor will not be able to read the high pressures that will me in my inlet manifold and will shut itself down.

anyone got a link to somewhere in the uk that sells a wideband map sensor or can u take one off a turbo car and fit it?

    cheers

yes your map senser will only deal with a vacume not preshure normaly a map senser on a non turbo car sends a max voltage of 4.5 v at atmospheric preshure normally 1000 mbr if u apply positive preshure it will send a voltage of 5v to the ecu and the engine management light will come on and go in to limp mode plus keep on doing this will damage the ecu best thing to do is go on the GMC MOTORSPORT web site or give john a call and he will advise you what to do, but to do the job propley, is to get a sig con, it uses a 2bar map senser and a piggyback ecu witch clamps the voltage as the 2 bar one works at half the voltage as standard so when the senser reaches 4.5v it clamps the voltage and dosent let the ecu know that u are on boost it also sends a full throttle signal to the std ecu apon boost so u can add extra fuel to run the turbo with the mf2 5th injector theres alot more to just bolting on a turbo so as youve got this far dont give up it will be a headace at times but the end result will be far worth it if u need any more advise or help just ask or pm me cheers bud hope this helped......
