the ones in post #2?? well im not getting them so which is the best out of the 3 i posted

    the second ones you posted
however aerocatches (the flush ones) mightbe expensive ect but they work very well and can be locked ect so nobody can get in your bonnet (as the point is taking the standard latch mechanism off with them)

ok out the ones you posted would say the last 1

but the third ones look more flush when the bonnets shut.
na im keeping my current latch, but this is what it looks like:

ive had it welded up twice and it keeps cracking. so basically mine could flip at any time

heres some old pics. on the 2nd pic the red lines show where the cracks have extended to now:

i dont see the point in keeping the standard latch tbh man
    especially in that state

cos i can just it as the way of locking my bonnet rather than getting areocatches. i wanna fit standard pins now, then at a later date i can upgrade to areocatches, as i will still need the hole from the standard pins so wont matter that the holes there if you get me.
i would try fit areocatches myself, but want to do it with someone. also i dont have a dremel.
the 3rd pins down that i said in post #1 look like this when fitted: and if i get the black rings as shown in the pic you will hardly notice them

On an everyday car, without the catch that you pull from inside the car, the 3rd ones, because they're the only ones with locks.

Although my mate had them on his, and one of the locking ones, at the back of the bonnet didn't latch properly, so the bonnet would constantly vibrate, and on track at FCS 08 it was coming up above the wipers...

so did he have them at the front and back? the 3rd ones are just like a standard key, so cant be trusted without the catch. would rather keep the standard catch there and have an extra bit of safety. seems pointless taking it off! but tbh i dont know what anyone could take from opening my bonnet. If you open my bonnet my alarm will go off, all you could easily nick is the induction kit which cost £40. and i cant believe anyone would have a key on them even if it is a standard cut key, and they wouldnt think to open the bonnet as they would assume it would have the standard latch on and need to be opened from inside the car.
but as said i may aswell keep the standard latch on

done a few sets of pins and tbh i areocatches arent much harder just once youce got te hole through the bonnet for the actual pin put the latch on and draw round it with a marker pen so you can see were to cut out

yeah, like ive looked at a really good guide on how to do them and it looks like quite a fun satisfying job. i dunno. not sure what to do. i may just get the third ones down that i posted, but im worried that with them ones when i slam the bonnet to shut it properly the pins may break if the locking bit isnt perfectly alligned with the pin. where as with the others you can slam it as the pin comes up through the bonnet

He had a Fibregash bonnet, and he had the pins at the front, and the lock bits at the back.

Can see the pins in this pic (can see the locking ones at the back, just):

And look on the bulkhead in this pic, and you can see the locking ones:

But the passenger side one didn't like latching properly, so it'd come out and start flapping.

yeah i see, i just need pins at the front. like i said to alex in the previous post with that style like the 3rd ones i posted surely theres a risk of them getting fucked when you slam the bonnet shut as the pin and the lock has to be perfectly lined up so debating whether to dump my standard catch as then i wont have to slam the bonnet, but i would be paranoid about security, not that theres much to nick in an engine bay easily, and i have an alarm, and also dont wanna rely on just pins holding my bonnet down. but they look the neatest pins by far, and you only need to drill 1 hole in the bonnet

yeah i spose, but it just seems pointless taking the catch off when it kinda works lol.

but do you agree about it being hard to slam the bonnet down with the 3rd pins i posted?

also do you think the 3rd pins are the best looking and work the best?

tbh man there is no point your ust making it more awkward to open the bonnet when you need too

i wouldnt wanna slam a bonnet on any pins tbh as its very easy to misalign them on the wobbily hinges a saxo has (i have the first type you posted on my 106 and tbh there shit to get lined up imo)

tbh mate i honestly wouldnt buy any of the ones youve posted
i just not a fan the only reason i have what i do on my gti is they were free and i snapped the cable release

    cool.
well ive bought the 3rd ones posted now.
is there a way to disable the latch mechanism but leave it there and leave it mainly intack? like can i easily unscrew the catch off the slam pannel?
will the locks on the 3rd pins be suitable to keep it safe? cos they are generic keys
