Changing VTR Carb'd Engine onto a Distributer Setup ???

  1. #1
    Hi all.

To cut a long story short I have a R6 Carb'd 8v VTR engine (late one if that makes any difference) I have binned the ecu and all the old loom etc and I need to get hold of the set up to run it on a distributer / coil etc etc
Have read in a few posts I need the bits from a 106, can anyone shed some more light and detail onto this please.
    Thanks in advance!

that sounds like massive work, why bin the ecu ect?

Well the car has had some R6 Carbs fitted but was being run from standard management! As you can imagine it wasnt running as well as it could! Anyway as far as I could see I had 2 routes to go down - firstly was to buy a custom management system (mega squirt or similar etc) and then get the car mapped. Or secondly to change to a distributer and coil system. I chose to go the disi way as its A. Parts are cheaper and B. Simple tech that if i have any problems whilst im at a race meeting it shouldnt be too hard to fix - it should also prove relatively easy to set up once its on a rolling road.
