anyone had experiance making a backbox quieter (silenced)

   i'm looking for away to silence my sportex backbox as its stupidly loud. ive heard 1.1 dont have middle silencer has anyone else experianced this? any help appreciated.

   I have know idea what the sustem is like on a 1.1 mate but it could be worth going to a custom exhausts place and getting them to make you a centre pipe with a middle box to make it quieter.

   If it was just to pass a sound test for a track day sound test or MOT you can just wedge something in it to baffle it. But if your planning on using it you would normally just replace the silence for a better one or add another one.

   yeah they are loud tbh. the centre section on a 1.1 is straight through as standard. You could get a centre pipe off kam with mid silencer but you could just swap it for a quieter backbox.

   vtr centre section has a silencer.
   
   what year 1.1 has a straight middle section? after a straight centre pipe to fit in between my cat and backbox

   i no someone said you can use a vw golf silencer straight after the cat but dont no if its true?

   all mk1 1.1's as far as i know!
   
   mine hasn't got a centre silencer, just mani > cat > backbox!
