Arches on 15’s

   I've got a 1998 1.1 mk1 saxo. i've just bought some new wheels, raceline RLS (with the stupid 3 stud fitment). They are having 195/45/15 tyres put on them. I know you have to have the top of the arch rolled up a little, but will it rub after I have this done?

   Doubt it! I have a Westcoast with same tyres on and they don't rub at all! I'm expecting arch work will be same on 1.1s.

   Would they rub with people in the back do you think? I havent touched suspension so its still like riding on a sponge...

   i had the same fitment on my 1.1 matey and i still got a little rubbing with 1 person in the back
   
   just remove your back seats then you can say sorry you will have to walk lol

   lol. Did u find your wheels were dead close to your rear suspension? like a 2mm gap? Looks like I may have to put up with a little rubbing...

   yeah they where im taking i youve got spacers??

   Not yet. Basically I bought the wheels from one place and getting tyres put on at another place and getting arches done there too. My m8 has a saxo the same as mine with 15s and he didnt need spacers? Does it vary?

   when i first fitted my alloys they rubbed on the rear arch lip with 2 people in the back and occasionally going over speed bumps. my solution was to cut off the lower bit of the arch and fit the VT kit. no problems what so ever now plus its been lowered 40mm aswel. easy enuf to get that arch lip rolled, make sure its done properly tho. i was quoted £20 an arch initially

    i thought id need spacers or sumfin, but it turned out the alloys i have r just really thick n the arch lip that u can feel on the underside just rubs the tyre with ppl in the car, get a few ppl in the back n give that a check

    Did you need spacers for yours? My m8 said that his has stopped rubbing as much over time, I assume thats because the rubber that it was rubbing on has worn away?

    im guessin you havent got a VT kitted saxo then!?
    
    youll be better off with 195/40/15 tyres as most will say!
    
    my vts is lowered 40mm on 17's and done loadza arch mods and i can now get a full car with very very little rubbing!!!!!
    
    and my tyres are 205/40/17 and i havent got spacers...!

    to my knowledge 195/40 15 tyres dont exist.
    
    if there is a 2mm gap then you dont need spacers as the rear suspension only moves up and down so should not come into contact on the inside.
    
    Cut the offending lip off on the outside of the arch and seal with paint and you shouldnt get any rubbing

    Put wheels on, so far so good. No rubbing. Aint put any1 in the back yet mind but i've been told and it looks like i'm going to be ok. cheers guys
