turbo & air filter

  1. #1
i've put a "venturi pipe" on my xsara 2.0HDi

yesterday i talked to a guy, and he told me that he got a 3bhp decrease on the same engine in pug206, and that he measured a 3bhp increase with a replacement panel filter.
    something like this

he explained that was because of too much air being fed to turbo.
can this be true? can you bring too much air to turbo?
is there any difference in maximazing air feed with a replacement filter or a induction kit?
  2. #2
now, i've googled around and found that everyone installs a green induction kit on a xsara 2.0hdi

i guess all i need to do then is provide a good cold air feed

the turbo can only suck as much air as it is supplied, i.e. you cant over supply it. You can restrict it though by not allowing enough air to it

thanx, that's all i needed to know

    oh, and one more thing

what's the difference between the 2 types i mentioned above?
  5. #5
the panel filter goes inside the standard air filter housing and use the original air box and piping.

The other is a replacement for all teh standard stuff
  6. #6
i know that, but whats the difference in performance? can both of them supply same amount of air?

pass. Potentially either could be better depending on the flow rates of the filters i.e. one could be an excellent filter allowing max air flow through and the other could be rubbish
