iv been looking at threads where people have turboed there cars, they keep mentioning a 5th injector, iv seen pics of this on the air intake (i think thats what it is) what is the purpose of this 5th injector?

to put more fuel in to keep the mixture right with the higher volume of air

As above mate, when you fit a turbo it is forcing a lot more air than standard into the engine, this in turn means your need to supply more fuel to get the mixture right
Not really a silly question mate, no questions are silly if you genuinly dont know and want to learn

As said really, 5th injector is so you can keep standard ECU. Keeps the costs down. You need a mf2 controller to run it which tells it when to send in more fuel.
The other option is standalone and bigger injectors etc
