turbo for my vtr

   would a turbo from a renault 5 gt turbo be ok on my vtr?
   
   im looking at running about 6psi, waiting to find out what the turbo is but so far all i know is that its a garret

   will pm you later rob I totally forgot the other day mate T2 will work fine btu standard actuator pressure is 9psi iirc. I think you should go for a GT17 off a Saab 9-3/9-5 they flow enough for 200bhp+ easy enough and is nice and compact standard actuator pressure is about 6psi on them to

   cheers mate, im waiting to find out more about the R5 turbo as its on a mates at the moment hes going to let me know how much psi its running etc and what model it is
   
   have been looking out for some GT17's on ebay but haven't seen any tbh

   If your talking a standard turbo then yes if in good condition it could be used for what your planning. You would be best off with a later model with the water cooled core. There pretty much all well past there expected life so if your looking at building a usable reliable car the odds of getting a good used one is slim. I would go for a professionally rebuilt one with a warranty or new old stock one if your lucky enough to get hold of one.
   
   Most people would recommend against it though as the turbo for even the newer R5 is very old hat. You can pick up a new GT turbo for not a million miles away from the price of a good R5 turbo and then not only can you get one to spec but there also a hell of a lot more efficient and durable these days.

   look at the turbos for ssab 9-3 and 9-5s mate as thats what they came on
