filling the sunroof hole

  1. #1
im thinking of ways of making the car lighter (for the track)

the sunroof looks like it might weight a bit

has anyone removed one of these before and what would be the best way of filling the hole that will be left

welding a new plate in then respray the roof or getting some perspex and screw + silicone it in

its been done alot where they remove the windscreen, drill out the spot welds holding the roof skin on, get a new non-sunroof one from citroen/peugeot as one from a scrappy would have most likely been warped as they remove it, weld it in place, throw in that windscreen nd bobs ur uncle. hear someone say before its not a good idea to weld/fibreglass up the hole as the roof flexes when you go round corners and you will basically loose its strength

i agree - might as well just get a new roof and spot weld it in. as well as the structural advatages it's going to take about the same amount of effort tbh

Get a non sunroof skin form citreion, but it wont be cheep to have it fitted an painted unless you can do it your self...

Or you could get a carbonfiber roof skin

    these seem ok,
might give them a call and see if i can get a full package
5 set of glass and see if they can do something with the sunroof
i like the look of the sliders with the 4 holes

get a 106rallye sunroof and swap them over like i have. much lighter than the saxo lump of metal. cheap and easy also

for the cost and what you will gain in performance
throw your cash out of the window or eat two less pies

    heres how i did mine

2mm thick aluminium plate and some pop rivets
theres a run of sealant under it so it doesnt leak
looks a tad ghetto but youve not seen the rest of the car lol!
