hi, ive recently got a saxo vtr its a phase 2 on a 2000 year. but has the older style engine. i recieved a s2 rallye engine and was wondering if i could fit the cam out the rallye into the vtr?
s2 106 rallye cam in a vtr?

#1
-
#2easier to just swap the whole head over as the bearing faces on the cams are different sizes
-
#3should it be a straight swap over?
-
#4it will probably require a little chopping of the loom tbh
pretty likely youll need to run the rallye inlet manifold and tb ect as the port spacing on the head differs on the later vtr to the rallye
and then the sensors (and hence plugs on your loom) will probably need swapping too
EDIT: the loom comment applies to the later engine not yours lol sorry for the confusion -
#5it will to a degree
there are a few things that will need changing over
i have a s1 rallye head on mine and the casting is the same as the s2 head,
i found the vtr injectors didnt fit properly so you willl need to use s2/s1 rallye injectors
also i found the vtr coilpack that sits behind the head didt fit properly, and wasnt quite contacting the plugs and made the car missfire slightly and i then changed to ht leads and coipack and the side of the head and that got rid of the missfire and it drove better too
erm i think that was all i had to change from what i can remember
everything else will go straight on i think, but like alex said the cam will not fit the silvertop head due to the cam bearing sizes being different so you will need to use the rallye head too if you want to use the cam, but the rallye cam is the equivilant to a mild cam for vtr anyway, so you ill see a good gain with it too -
#6is there much work involved in changing from a coilpack to ht leads?
-
#7well not really, u will still be using a coilpack but it will be on the side of the head, ill find a pic out for ya later if you want so you can see my set up.
but all you need to do is get the older style coilpack plug and change that, then thats it really mate, as the rallye head will already have the right type of housing to bolt it too, so is fairly straight forward tbh, but the wiring can be a pain cause u need to get it right or it wont start lol -
#8oh right. so not too much work then.lol. yeah a pic would be handy mate. would i be better off gettin the ecu remapped or that since rallyes rev higher than vtr's?
