Cant find the socket for the plug in the vicinity of the alternator.

  5. #5
Not connected to the alternator mate surely.

if it clips in to the front of the altenator. it is the feed for your battery light on ya dash m8
  7. #7
looks similar to front fog light connector do they work ?

You sure it comes from the Alternator? Looks a bit like it comes from the plastic tubing?
I'll have a look in my bay and get back to you.

Oil level sensor on the front of the block.

The alternator looks to have two ring terminals on it. One to feed the battery, the other for the dash warning light.

But if you look at the top of the picture, theres a wire that goes out of the alternator over the top of the oil filter (the white thing) and this wire is connected to the front of the block.

I suspect that it could be for the battery light, bit worried that it will just turn on when i plug it in! where is the other end of it then?

If it's a single wire then it's the oil pressure sensor with a little spade connector on it.

As this clip has two wires it goes to the oil level sensor about 10mm above the oil filter, I'll try and find a pic.

You can just see both sensors - I think the plug goes on the sensor nearest the oil filter

    Hello,

I have a saxo 1.1 60ps of year 1998. As far as I can see, I have also a green plug unused. It is exactly next to the alternator, just as pjw shows in his picture above. I can only locate one oil sensor (right above the oil filter), not two like raunchz mentions. Has anybody any idea what it might be??
The main problem is that I have a dim battery light on my dash for over a year now (yes it is constantly dim, even on first click before I crank on the engine). I have checked the voltage, replaced the battery, replaced the battery termninals and so on. I thought that the previous owner might have fitted a different kind of alternator or a cable has gotten loose. When I saw the green plug unused I thought that this may be the problem of constant dim battery light on dash.
