PH3 newman cams

Buying some PH3 cams next week, is it a good idea to get new followers?

    Engine is on 81k

    Are they easy to install??

    All input appreciated !

    IMO I would.

Followers just sit on the valve spring retainers.

IMO its a good idea to fill them with oil (just submerge them in oil for a few seconds) before fitting so they work straight from startup

Easy to install, the 'tricky' bit is timing them up

What other parts do i need then?

I thaught it was just a straight swap and needed tuning...

If i was you I'd buy the following:

    new cambelt
(idlers and waterpump depending on service history)
    camshaft oil seals
    followers
cam lube (should have some in with the cams tbh)
a tube of instant gasket - loctite or something like that

Nice one mate, will take all this into consideration!! Buying bits and bobs every month for march/april!!

Also a quick question, i noticed you have an s2 rallye box, whats the pull like? Is it a noticeable difference from the vts box?

I've never had a vts box on mine so couldn't say tbh. It does 'feel' like it wants to rev quick (i do have a lightened flywheel too).

FD is 4.03 vs vts of 3.93 (figures off the top of my head) - so about a 4% diference

It'll be for sale spring next year as hopefully have my S1 box on by then.

I'd budget around 200-300 for a rebuild - there's a good guide on here to do it yourself in the articles section, is worth a try !
