Hy all, I have question how to put out my catalyst on EURO 3 VTS with 2 lambda sensors? Is any kind how to outwit the ECU?
how bypass the catalyst on 2 lambda VTS

#2Mine has 2 probes (2001 Model) and I've had a de-cat on since i bought it. No problems, not even an ECU light
-
#3I have a buddy that has had no problem what so ever with his de-cat VTS 2001.
-
#4So If i have some problems with my cat (banging while changing the gears - probably these are his last days) I can get rid of it easly and there'll be no problem with the Check Engine light? I've a 2001 Saxo VTS and I think there are 2 lambdas in it.
-
#5try it and see matey. there are little glove things that go over the sensor itself to fool it into thinking the exhaust emmissions are ok, but I cannot rememeber where you can get them from off hand

#7There you have it !

#8Well Scotland
It's quite far from me
Maybe you know what are they made of so I could do something like that in here?
-
#9they would probably deliver to you
-
#10£21 delivered.Lamda from top of manifold (or FIRST Lamda)goes into bottom of new manifold/de-cat pipe and the one that WAS under car (second Lambda) fits into GMC sleeve.
No more EML problems
Worked for me......... -
#11But is it resonable to cut out cat in a serial exhaust? Cause I have a used one for only Ł17 so maybe its better to have in this situation?
-
#12Cat is for immisions regulations over here in the UK saxorulez. We need one to be road-legal if the car was manufactured after 1992

I dare say they keep the noise down, improve immisions and improve fuel consuption(all trade-offs of a standard car manufacturer's aims and intentions). However they also "rob" the car of a few horsepower.
Take it out !

#13Same in PolandQuote:Originally Posted by sevenfourateWe need one to be road-legal if the car was manufactured after 1992

But untill I'll buy the sleve from GMC I'm going to get rid of this damn Cat cause it sound like dozen of pots under my car, during every gear change
So if the ECU light turns on I can easly drive a car wright? And than after puting this sleve ECU should go out?
-
#14Some people drive with the EML light on for ages or even permanently, and their cars seems fine.
Although your ECU compares readings between the 1st and 2nd Lambda sensors to set fuelling, ignition etc etc SO,if the light is on for this reason, its telling you it CANNOT compare the readings - so what its basing its settings on god knows !
The sleeve from GMC encases the 2nd lambda and fools the car into reading "dirty clean air" !!! ie : The car normally needs to be reading that the gases from the 2nd lambda are cleaner than those from the 1st (showing the cat is working).Because we dont have a cat we have to "con" the ECU and this is what the sleeve does - it effectively traps some fresh air in the sleeve which will ALWAYS read cleaner compared the gases passing over the first Lambda and so your little ECU/EML light on dash goes out
-
#15Good, I've emailed GMC about the prices and postage today. But I'm wondering about one thing if my cat is broken inside so it should not work propertly and ECU should goes on, am I wright? So maybe if the ECU light is not shining at the moment, it will not shine after de cat. Just like Trickyd and Kotl_VTS16 said...
-
#16Only one way.Try the de-cat and if the EML (engine management light) comes on then you'll have to get a sleeve from GMC.
I wouldnt worry about driving for a few days with the light on to be honest....if you want to try it before you order the sleeve that is. -
#17And that is the answer I was hoping for
Thx a lot

#18Glad to help

Had my car rolling roaded once when i had Lamda problems.
Not really sure of the implications but i seem to remember something about "open loop" and "closed loop" ?
The guy who rolling roaded my car said "get it fixed" and made me aware of the problem but wasnt unduly concerned about it.
Personally my car ran fine and the rolling road result that day showed no undue problems caused by the Lamda/s playing up and hence EML light being on.
I also know of others the same and a few guys who have run for years ? like it as the GMC sleeves can apparently be a little bit "hit and miss" (tempremental).
GOOD LUCK !!!!

#19I have a good news!! It wasnt a oat that was banging all the time, it was manifold, hiting in some nut. After a visit in a good garage everything is fine
Now I'm going to collect some money and do the head work cause my headgasket is leaking...
