#2there is a saxo san remo which was rumored 150 as standard iirc
-
#3that sounds possible and would have been a fun car to own i could of bought it but being about 17 at the time and only getting 100 quid a week for training it was just out of my grasp. any1 on here have 1 or know sum1?
-
#4I believe the power claims were never actually backed up by a RR printout.
-
#5San Remo, tuned by LAD motorsport.
There must be a thousand threads on them. -
#6Citroen Saxo VTS San Remo Limited Edition, 1 of 12 ever built. A very rare car in showroom condition inside and out. 160 Bhp with 135 lbs Torque 140mph+ only weighs 900kg

what a great angle to photograph the engine bay from
-
#15lol
-
#16LADs power claims are optimistic considering the 'mods', their rollers would make my push bike a lambo killer.
-
#20not a bad price for that one for sale!
-
#21i just after cumn across this thread 4rm last year...mine is a san remo 1..people say lad do bad work..but mine is serios quick..it nearly 160bhp i reckon?
-
#22probably not though sadly
-
#23The LAD Motorsport San Remo having 160bhp is about as fictional as unicorns, the loch ness monster and the darleks.
This is the actual specification taken from the L.A.D website!
ENGINE and EXHAUST
Power raised to approximately 160 bhp at the flywheel by extensive cylinder head modification, incorporating larger inlet and exhaust ports and revised camshaft timing. An exhaust manifold and system based on the rally Kit Car engine can be fitted to the 160 bhp kit; this produces another 10 bhp raising the power output to approximately 170 bhp.
SUSPENSION
A completely new suspension package developed by L.A.D. incorporating 35 mm lowered front springs and up-rated dampers to match.
BRAKES
Cross-drilled front and rear discs.
Up-rated brake pads.
BODYWORK
Rear spoiler based on the L.A.D. Saxo Evolution.
Given that its only really got a basic induction kit, exhaust and doesnt even have higher lift cams (an adjustment of existing timing will give a very slight increase if mapped correctly) it would be very unlikely that its any more than 140bhp in reality.
The suspension is no well known make and the brakes arent really anything to shout about.
The reality is that what LAD offered is no more than any tom, dick and harry can achieve with minimal effort -
#24Any pics I a sure I saw a dark blue vts with gold vts wheels a while back for sale on autotrader

#26you say its a 1.4 on the log book? hows that if its a genuine (1.6) san remo?Quote:
p.s. can you even see with that sun strip?
-
#27i tink the last lad who had it cudn get insured in it so changed it sumhow i dont no reli...hahah it is a genuine 1 doh!haha yea i no ah it grand just sit back and ya can c no boder!!!!
-
#28The San Remo's only came in white!
And you cannot change engine size on a log book just for the hell of it, engine numbers have to be confirmed by someone professionally. So if its on as a 1.4 its just a copy -
#29no just different plates!wel how come every other san remo i looked up was dark navy?any gavin-t also said dat dey are navy?!?
-
#30Thats not a san remo.Quote:
1st of all it's blue and secondly it's on the logbook as a 1.4. -

so whats the blue one then? and the evo and the silver one? -
#37evo and the silver one? There will inevitably be copies about. Would expect L.A.D to have kept some kind of documents on cars that they did with chassis numbers etc. Worth a phonecall maybe?Quote:wow lol nice, shame it died

#39Interesting, I wonder what this blue one is that I am thinking of

Although that customer review on the lad site made me giggle.......... -
#40i would love for someone to test a standard one of these on a reputable RR, it takes a canny bit to get a standard vts to that power.
LAD are a bit naughty when it comes to power output claims.
