im planning on painting my 8V rocker cover, however im a bit wary of oil spilling everywhere when i take it off and replace it. any one got any info on the gasket sealing or tips?

You wont spill any oil when you take the rocker cover off as the oil will all be at the bottom of the engine in the sump. The most you'd get is a drip or two from whats left on the underside of the rocker cover.
Make sure you dont run the car without the cover on though!
And make sure you wipe both contact surfaces (ruber gasket and head) when you put the cover back on to ensure a good seal

Also, if your interested, i have a rocker cover to sell. primered ready for paint, £20
or if you dont mind waiting a week for painting £40 painted or £30 p/x with your old one

I have 1 from a saxo and 2 from 106's. If i'm honest i had trouble with the breather nozzle fouling on the saxo coilpack on the 106 rocker cover when i fit one on mine, so i'm going to try and bend one a little to see if it solves the issue.
Tomorrow i'll get them finished off in primer and start a 'for sale' thread with pics and pm you guys who are interested

when changing the rocker cover, change the gasket, and make sure its a citroen one, buying some cheap internet one isnt any good, they're only like £13 from citroen

why change the gasket? can you not just use the old one?

the old one deteriorates over time so its better to just buy a new one and change it over, ive not had any problems with the £6 one i got off ebay, does the job well
