fitting a new clutch fork

long story as to how I need a new one but I'm going to fit a new one. Is it just a simple case of hammering the new pin through or does it need pressed into position?

    thanks stu

long version: I had a vts gbox with fucked fork so when I got the conversion done I got another "decent" vts box fitted instead. However it turns out the "decent" vts box has a broken spring inside it, the one that keeps the gearstick in the central position when in neutral. So now I'm replacing the fork on the old box myslef and re fitting it and the "decent" one is going to get rebuilt by the place that did the conversion (doubt they will, probs just give me a 1.1 box and tell me it's vts one)

    +1
Now that I've got round to getting a new pin and have the time to swap boxes I can't ge the old one out.

iirc the pin is tapered ever so slightly so will only come out one way.

don't quote me on that, but try hitting it out the other way. Check the new pin first as I think it'll be slightly tapered.

urm............ isn't there a plastic sort of washer ontop of the arm pivot?

Should just be able to knock it out - bigger hammer needed me thinks ! Don't be shy with it - try and knock it out the right way, should be easier than forcing the larger end through the hole.

I'm taking the fork off a spare box so don't mind fucking the plastic and I have new plastic bushes for the new box

bigger hammer is a good shout though.
