pug 206 gti 180 calipers with 283mm discs, or 307 hdi calipers with 266mm discs. Either are good, but the 283mm set up is quite heavy, so the 266mm set up is better really, for road driving.

cheers mate, would the 307 calipers and disk just replace the old ones ? or would i have to get anything else for it. and could you recomed some good disks and pad's for thoose calipers ?

Here ya go mate, ignore my first post question on there as the whole thread gets sidetracked. Basically its all info and advice into the 166/283 single pot slider calipers and then the 4/6pots setups.

straight fit mate. Standard would do tbh, you'll feel the difference straight away with a big upgrade.

266mm as already said would be more than enough stopping power with decent discs/pads.

This weekend I bought a set of 206 RC (GTi 180 in the UK) calipers from a guy who has a rally car, but it runs already on 4 pot AP Racing brakes.
So I mounted them with Ferodo DS 3000 pads and drilled discs on my VTS. Even the 15 inch winter rally Speedlines fit this setup.
Well, completely different than standard road use brakes. When cold, completely no or just a minimal brake power. So I drive a few hundred meters with left foot on brake and gas. When it becomes warm, much better. When I brake agressive and suddenly, it stops the small car immediatelly. The only problem is the longer pedal way, probably I will need to mount a bigger master cylinder (206 RC or 406 V6 or something similar)

I'd be changing to DS2500 or another more suitable pad. DS3000 is really not good for road use and never will be performing at its best operating temperatures.

283s weigh more than the moon, 266 are more than you will ever need on the road.
