fitting a raceland induction kit.

  1. #1
i'm wondering if anyone can help me? i bought the raceland induction kit for my 1997 vtr mk1(black top) and was taking a look at standard filter an all so i could see wot is ahead of me at the weekend and noticed that there is 3 pipes on standard air box and only 1 connection on the raceland.
i know a need a breather filter for oil hose and the vaccum one connects to new filter but there is a small pipe (about 6-7mm) what do i do with it? also there is a cable running to old air box, what happens with it?

any help is very greatly appreciated so i can fit this. i have checked fitting guides but there is only one for vts.

cheers and i hope that makes sense to someone.

Any chance of a picture to see what your going on about?

You remove everything after the throttle body, and connect up the induction kit, youconnect the oil breather to the induction kit and away you go?

on my standard air box there is a vacuum hose, oil breather, a small thin hose running back towards the throttle body and a sensor.

i have my raceland filter all bolted in(had to relocate coil pack) I put vacuum hose into the side of s/s pipe, got a small breather filter for for the oil breather, just not sure what to do with the small pipe going to the throttle body and the wire for sensor?

The sensor is the air sensor, If you don't have that fitted, you will get real dodgy idle and cutting out slowing down when you dip the clutch etc,

I've fitted mine on my blacktop vtr 1998, Real bodge to fit but it works!!!

Breather filter on the oil breather,
Vacuum hose into the side of the metal pipe,
Filed away the sides of the induction kit so it sits between coil pack and battery,
Tapped a small hole in the induction rubber hose and screwed the sensor into it,
Put a small hole into the rubber hosing and inserted the throttle body hose too

They are such a shit induction kit for the money, Mine cost me £115 including the twin cone Green filter, And I had to file the shite out of it

    Hope this helps!

Just came accross the same problem on an early vtr today but found a different solution-
I left the first part of the link to the throttle on there which has all the pipes but removed everything else- this means the vacuum hose can still do its job etc. Then i put the filter cone straight on facing downwards as it was either that or route it to the regular position which is behind the radiator...

I may get some pipe and clips to drop the cone down further or get some air ducted to it in some way as I am unhappy with both solutions... as picking up the air behind the radiator isnt good and neitheris hanging straight down to in line with mid engine.
