Doesn't look like 40mm? (now with measurements)

I've recently had my VTR dropped 40mm each end, or so I thaught...

spax PSX -40mm kit all round, so I knnow the front is right. The guy at the garage asked me how much I wanted the rear down so i told him to go 40mm the same as the front.

Got it back, but looking at it, it looks far too low at the back to be only 40mm?

especially when Stevo's VTS is down 45mm at the back:

It makes mine look more like 50+mm to me?

I've had it back for a couple of weeks now so it's probably a bit late to take it back to the garage and get him to redo it, but i'm a bit loathed to spend any more money getting it right so I dont really know what's best. All i know is that it's current stance is pissing me off hideously.

Give it a while to settle mate, tbh think it looks good though, and remember vts wheels are bigger

You reckon the front will drop a bit as the springs bed in?

this is my vts lowered on 40mm spax, they do settle a little bit at the front, my rear is down 40mm to match with 15inch wheels(same size as vts wheels btw)
i would say your rear is down about 50-60mm

Gaz, yours looks bob on for what I was after.

I can't see my fronts settling enough to level out the gap to the top of the arch so it looks like i'm going to have to get the rear done again

Agree 50-60mm at the back there mate

Cheers guys. Hopefully the guy at the garage will agree and redo it for me. I dont want to have to fork out £80 again to get it done.

Infact, i've just been out with a ruler.

Gap from front arch lip to rim is 105mm.
Gap from rear arch lip to rim is 90mm.

Raising 15mm then would make the gap between wheel and arch lip even, but with the rear arch not being round would 10mm be the correct lift to get the overall arch fill even?

Yours has the VTR wheels on which are of course smaller than the 15' VTS ones, they do tend to give an illusion that the car is lower than it really is

Plus the measurements are taken from (example- points measured from varies depending on whos doing it) centre of the wheel hub to the bottom of the arch immediately above

This is a measurement that is taken when there is no 'load weight' on the rear components other than their own weight so weight of the car itself is irrelevant

    SO!

Even though 2 cars could be measured to exactly the same height, when theyre put on the floor again there could be a drastic difference in the 'on the floor height' depending on several things such as:

spare wheel on the car or not
    how heavy is the backbox
full tank of fuel or almost empty
    interior in or stripped out
loads of crap of sound system in the boot.

For example when i lowered my car the measurement was 50mm, since then i now have a stripped out interior and the rear actually looks to be about 20mm higher than before when its sat on the ground even though the suspension hasnt been changed since

    hope that helps a little

Well, my tank is only half full and it's sitting 15mm lower at the rear. I'm just really annoyed because it's only 10/20mm difference but it's frustrating me so much. i HATE when cars look lower at the rear than the front, it's so chavy.

Wilsy, how much would you charge to lift it 15mm?

cheers dude, i prefer my height imo as it looks good and will go over all speed bumps with no issues and handles great
