Breaking the white plastic under the gear knob?

  1. #1
Will I have to do this in order to fit my momo gear stick on? It uses an alan key and threads 3 screws into the bar but it wont fit and its almost impossible to fit it with that plastic in the way, would I have to fit it to the brass coloured bar underneath the white plastic?

    Or is there another solution?

    help
    Cheeeeeers

When i replaced mine mate i had to brake the cream/white plastic moulding off mate, then i had to use one of the black mouldings that you get with them,if not then i pressume you could tighten up the grub screw onto the actual bar,MOMO gearknobs FTW

You should get some black covers for the actual bar like the white ones,so see if one of those fits and then just use that, i cant remember exactly what i did tbh lol,but if they dont fit just attatch it to the bar.

Crack the White plastic bit off with a pair of grips.

Fit new gearknob to the plain gearstick.

What the guys are talking about is with universal kits you usually get plastic sleeves that slide over the existing gearstick so that you can the fit the knob over them.

This lets you fit it to any vehicle with any size gearstick.

Tbh i think i fitted mine straight onto the gearstick itself without the sleeves Mr_P explained it better than melol

just cover the top bit of the gear stick with insulation tape, ram on the gear knob so it sits tight. if it still moves slap on some more tape - simple

    standard gearknob ftw

ahhhh sweet oh right yeah its like a sizer reducer thing, i got you, yeah i have one that came with the gear stick, the other problem i was thinking though will the gear gaiter still fit flush with the gear knob or will it look stupid? and you will see some of the bar?

I got a momo gearkob with a screw on momo gaitor, but it looked a bit weird screwed together,so i just put the gaitor and attached the gearknob like normal, and even though its not connected together you cant the see the metal gearstick. The problem with the momo gaitor is really big so you have to tuck it in and make it how you want it.

when i changed my girlfriends gear knob i carfullf cut the top off (the pointed bit) so it was flat and put the new knob on the top & it fits fine, just be carfull not to chop your hands

I have a Mk2(2000 W Reg - the horrid yellow gear knob BTW) How would i go about changing the gear knob, does it pull off? or does it twist off?

i haven't actually tried to get it off as yet, so i'm just wondering for when the time comes.

Pull hard. A bit of a twist will help get it off. 90 degrees twist and a good hard yank and it'll pop straight off watch you don't twat yourself in the chops though

thats a good way of putting it. lol

just put it in gear and just pull hard, thats what i did to get mine off

yeah put it in gear and pull untill it comes off, twisting helps aswell
