head gasket has gone i rate, bet its drinking water thats why the temp light is on, check your rad probably no water. Don't drive it, you'll fry and crack the head! then you'll need to get lubed up to fork out for a rebuild.

what sort of mileage you on ? Get a compression and 'sniff' test to confirm if hg gone

no mate its 86000 miles im not losein water i sumtimes have the fan cut in and sum times not but needle doesnt go in to the red the light just pops on then pops off just over half is this an air lock or a problem with the rad water its a joke ............

well could be a faulty temp sensor on the engine?

any one no wot this problem is ???????????????????????????????????
  10. #10
sounds like a gauge fault then
  11. #11
how do i check thta bud
  12. #12
should i put a switch on the fan so can coll her down quicker

i had a similar problem abit ago, temp gauge was bouncing about and red light was coming on when not in red. Changed the thermostat, didnt do anything. I found out there was a tiny hole in a coolant pipe, which was sucking in air into the coolant system. But your problem could be a fan switch and temp sensor issue if the fans dont come on... because with mine the fans stayed on all the time, like for about 10mins without the key in the car etc

    Radiator fluid? Top it up.

Use the pressure release valve. Job done.

relay has gone for your fan
mine did this when i twin fanned it and bodged the wiring blowing the relay

just over halfway is where the fan should cut in and the light is indicating there is a fault in the circuit

i blew 2 relays before it killed a fuse and i just put it back to one fan it was fine lol

    Could be a few things.

    Faulty Sensor, Guage
    Air Lock
    Faulty Fan

If your oil is not creamy then your headgasket will 90% be good.
If you're not loosing water and it's at the right mark then that's good, when the Engine is warm turn it off, and squeeze the bottom hose and it should push water up the Rad and you'll see it move, if it's hard or that dosen't work then bleed it with all 3 bleed valves. Use a hose pipe to get water through the System (Engine must be cold!) Then bleed the rest as normal with Engine running and if the problem is still there check fan Connections.

Dose the Engine get hot fast? Dose it over heat while driving?

bleed the matrix as you should when changing coolant. tiny valve cap just by the inlet to the left. start the engine from cold. grab the radiator hoses located top right and bottom left when looking at the car. see if one is cold and one is boiling. = (Air lock) then unscrew valve and let all the air escape till no air can be heard

i had this problem. luckily neighbour is a mechanic for citroen. bled the matrix and worked fine.
