Pretty pissed off to be honest, Put the car in for a pre mot expecting all to be hunky dory, And the axle i have a receipt for from August 08 is goosed! Bearings are nackered and cambering slightly at the top of the wheels, And was only warrented to august 09' So £400 receipt for it and this happens. Bad times! Will upload pics of camber and vid of play in wheel to see what you think, Mechanic said its no use but i might get off with it. Cheers!
New axle.. Fucked!

#2Thats bad. I would phone the company up and say your not happy.
-
#3Good shout but the warranty has expired. Still an absolute joke.
-
#4sounds like stubb pins maybe weren't replaced ? And just the bearings replaced, causing it to go quickly again? Its easy to speculate tbh. until you see the condition of the stub pins and know which company did it.
-
#5Cheers raunchz, Was just a local mechanic jacked it up and the back left wheel had loads of play, Back right was fine.
-
#6What a piss take.
What company done the axle for you? -
#7I bought one around 4 months ago and had it fitted. Old one had a little play but nothing much, still an MOT fail though (took it to another garage who said it wasn't a fail at all but..). My new one looked really dodgy, rear wheels leaned in loads but the garage I bought it off wouldn't do anything about it as it wasn't broken or didn't have any play.
I refurbed my old one with new bearings and polyrace bushes, fitted it yesterday and today and already it looks much better.
Do it yourself, you can't trust anyone these days.. Plus if you do it yourself you know its right! -
#8This is the reason i do all my work myself, had problems with garages before.Quote:I bought one around 4 months ago and had it fitted. #10Cheers guys, I'll just get a pic of the receipt and upload. Will phone them tommorow!
-
#11receipt wont help us at all !! lol
Strip the axle down to see what conditon its in - that's the only way to confirm it - they could say that its worn quickly due to lowering etc.
IMO you don't have a comeback tbh. Definately worth a phonecall to see what they say but not worth pushing it tbh - Just learn your lesson and move on tbh -
#12Ok fuck the receipt lol. I'll get pics tommorow in the light to show the camber of wheels, I'll phone them and see what they say tommorow anyway.
-
#13I would phone them up and try and sweet talk them tbh. Dont go mad just say I had it done by you and its failed and it shouldnt really be failing after a years motoring/ X amount of miles. Any chance of money to be put towards a new one etc.
If that dont work shout from the rooftops about how shit their work is lol -
#14Sounds like the stub axles wernt replaced, and or new seals wernt fitted properly.

#15Very true man, I'll see if i can get one off them on the cheap or so.Quote:I would phone them up and try and sweet talk them tbh.
