Induction kit - damage to engine?

   Heard a rumour from a few people with saxo's that when they fitted their induction kit their cars went into safe mode, lost performance, kept cutting out and drank fuel!
   
   now this doesnt sound too good, i know an induction kit isnt going to give me any power increase and the hot air you get isnt going to be good, but just bought a pipercross kit purely for the roar and not sure on fitting it? dont fancy the expensive ECU bill!
   
   Anyone help?!

   probably because it was a open air filter fitted straight to the air inlet, with no piping

   well ive had 2 saxos now and fitted an induction kit to both and not had any problems tbh with ya!
