Rev limiter

    Hi all,

    Do I need a single or twin coil setup for a rev limiter like this one here:

    The only reason I can think of for a user switchable rev limit is to protect the engine when it's started from cold... the Omex ECU will have a default hard and soft cut limiter anyway.

    Im actually after the rev limiter, launch control and shift light but there was no need to mention all 3 for the purpose of the question. I dont really even need to mention the rev limiter - im only interested in wether or not saxos are twin or single coil setup. I assume they are twin coil because there is no dizi, so a redundant spark must be present, though im not sure so I thought I would ask.

    Could email the company, though they may not know specific car coilpack setups

    You needa twin coil setup mate, i have one

    When setting it up, set it to "2" cylinders, not 4,it tells you this on the instructions but just a reminder lol

    I've heard launch control can cause bad things.. and bangs.

    I dont see why... all it does is mean that you can hold revs at a certain rpm just like you would the torrle normally, except this is fixed. It also stops over spinning of the wheels as you pull away. What you heard may be to do with ALS or something perhaps?

    Yes holding your car at certain revs then letting it rev to full potential, Dan C had one on his Cherry gti before he sold it, said it made a loud concerning bang when he used it so was removed..

    The problem arises when you keep your foot on the throttle more than is necessary. It only stops the coils firing above a certain rpm so is not designed for foot down rev limiting, so the injectors still spurt out fuel. This means a hugely rich mixture, so could easily produce a bang as the excess fuel is burnt in the exhaust manifold. Has to be used properly, i.e. foot down on throttle only as much as is necessary

    yes, he did, and he had it set to four cylinders instead of 2 (with it being twin coil) so thats probs why

    Mine doesnt make any loud bangs, probs as i have 8 less valves

    When you hit the limiter tho it bounces on and off about 10 times a second on hard cut, as i have the omex limiter set to 100rpm below the standard one.

    I will be using it on soft cut, which will start to kick in at the end of the powerband. The limiter isnt the reason im going for it though, its because of the other advantages!

    yea, it starts to cut the spark gradually 100prm's before the set limit iirc

    i might have a twin coil with launch control setup forsale, bored of mine already. only had it 3weeks

    Why are you already bored of it? No real gain? Was that the one bought off ebay for ~50?

    Its a saxo ffs not a wrc monster. Its not difficult to keep traction and get a fast launch. I cant see the point of it anymore. I get a better launch without it
