Fitting an exhaust...hard??

   Considering fitting a centre section and backbox on my car by myself. Couple of questions:
   
   1) Would you recomend it?
   
   2) Is it hard?
   
   3) Is is possible with just simple tools, jack, axle stands etc..
   
   I have changed my backbox before and that was simple.

   could do it with my eyes shut now ive done it so many times, its not hard atall, just sometimes can be a bit fidly with the car jacked up as not much room to move etc and get to the clamps.
   
   But yer its easily done and most people on here i have changed there own exhausts. Normally socket/spanners and make sure you have exhaust paste to seal it etc. Also a spare pair of hands does come in useful to hold the section up whilst clamping it in place etc.

   its so easy to do. if you have proper made parts aka no universal crap for any car.if its all saxo made bits its easy.

   Ever so simple a job really, get some exhaust putty tho, will help fight off any leaks

   Exhaust change is easy even I can do that without moaning. Manifold if raceland on the other hand.............

   Easy enough, soak all the bolts is some WD40 as that helps!

    just buy a new fitting kit. Very easy to fit.
    Undo the front 2 spring bolts on the downpipe.
    Take exhaust off the rubbers
    slide out the back of the car
    
    slide new exhaust under
    hang on the rubbers
    do bolts back up

    yeh i got new everything, rubbers, 50mm gasket, clamp etc. How do the spring bolts go together? or will I see when I take the old ones off.

    Only problem I've ever had is that the spring bolts don't come with any diagram as to what bit goes where, so for the first few times you do it, you may end up realising you haven't got all the bits in the right places.
    
    However if you're sensible (unlike me) you'll take a note of how the standard ones come off the car, and then you'll be pretty much there.
    
    Also I've found that using more than a tiny amount of exhaust paste prevents a good seal on the manifold-centre section joint (on my car anyway), so if you do decide to use it here, literally use the smallest amount possible, or you may be finding it's crumbled off, leaving a hole for exhaust gas to escape (EG it's blowing).

    10mm socket and 10mm spanner, set of axel stands and a jack. the only tools you need.
    as said get exhaust paste and a fresh fire gasket

    Ok well im going attempt this wen my back comes from kam racing. Another couple of questions, the supersprint race centre comes in two parts do I need to put exhaust putty on the two parts before I put the to parts together? Also the clamp that you get with it does that clamp them to parts together? Sorry to bug everyone I just want to get it right first time lol.

    Look at your exhaust when it comes off & use your initiative.
    
    If theres a seal to make, seal it.

    easy as pie mate litterally its two bolts then slide off the rubbers, my car is lowered 60mm at the front and that is a tight squeeze but i can still manage to wriggle my self under and i have a fear of being under cars lol when youve got ur nose and inch away from the sump thats scary lol and just whack some sealant on each join, should only be two joins where the centre section bolts to the downpipe/manifold and where it meets the back box

    one question you said you had a 50mm gasket? on kamracing website it says that vtr's need a 46.5mm gasket and only the vts use a 50mm gasket just thought id mention incase you have trouble fitting
