1.4 box on a vtr

  1. #1
Would a 1.4 furio gearbox fit on a vtr using vtr driveshafts?
  2. #2
Yes, it's the hubs that matter, not the box.
  3. #3
No, you need to change one of your driveshafts as it will be too short or long cant rmember which now. Youll need a non VT non sports driveshaft.

How come I can use VTR shafts on a 1.1 box then?
  5. #5
They might be longer than the VT ones then. Couse if theyre too short then obviously it wont be all the way in, if its longer then should seal fine.

Would would it drive like with a 1.4 box?

Pretty much the same as a vtr box really.

I fitted a non-sports driveshaft with a sports box and the driveshaft was around 1" too short and hit the diff. - the gearbox leaked fluid

I'm not sure about the other way round, but I'd fit matching shafts so the car remains reliable

So can I keep my vtr shafts and hubs with a 1.4 box then? I may look for a 1.1 box

    I don't know, I've never tried it.

All I know is the diffs are different and the end of the shafts that go into the box are different - don't skimp and just bung some non-sports on it too

theres a reason they changed the shafts for the bigger models

on a 1.1 i sheared a non sports shaft in half
god knows what an extra 30hp will do to a hollow driveshaft

furio and vtr driveshafts are the same so no you wont, the only difference between vtr and furio are arbs, box ratios, engine, and rear brakes so fitting a furio box is fine.

I only feel you should pair the right driveshafts and gearbox so that you don't end up with any potential problems with the depth of driveshaft splines locating in the diff. I've never run a sports shaft in a non-sports box so can't say about durability.
