Can anyone reccomend a VTS box on my VTR

  1. #1
My gearbox has started to whine like fook and crunch, still selects all its gears fine but its only a matter of time now.. boo.

has anyone ever used a VTS box on an R before? What is it like
i've got a 1.4 quicksilver box on it atm (same as furio iirc) and i do like it but think its a bit short

whats the VTS box like on the motorway, i.e. what revs at 70mph etc
any help would be greatly appreciated

a 1.4 box is pretty much the LONGEST box you can get - and you think its a bit short !?

a vts will be a lot 'shorter'

it will be over quickly with a vtr rev-limit and stamping on the throttle.

The 1.4 gearbox is a long gearbox - just take a look at its Final Drive compared to the vts box.

vts gearbox in my 1.4 was about 3k irc at 70mph cnt be definate though and they have the same RPM limit etc and 8valve so will be the same on a vtr.

cr00zing, nah i only really drive when necessarily now, 14 miles of 60 mph A road basically and a bit of town driving to get to work. Hence why i dont want a short ratio box because it will spank the fuel on the run, its getting about 34 mpg atm driving VERY sensibly but the gearbox won't last long.. I do enjoy a good spirited drive though but with the weather like this im not interested tbh

get a 1.5d box or 1.4/vtr box then they would be best and retain fuel economy

are vtr boxes the same as the 1.4's?

think the vtr box is slightly shorter, the 1.4 is deffo the longest tho so thats your best bet for fuel saving..

they are almost the same final drive, but the vtr box has a sports gearcluster and diff

im pretty sure my vts is about 3500rpm at 70mph on the clocks

Tom, my VTR has quite a few mods, would the VTR box be better suited then?

I'd much rather have to pay an extra few quid in petrol a week and have a box that could take more power than eat through another one of these boxes

vtr box will be much better. i doubt you will notice any difference at all in mpg. They are sooo similar. Have a search for the gearbox calculator
